God of War Ragnarök: The Ruined Prison – Quest Guide

In our God of War Ragnarök The Crumbling Prison quest guide, you will learn:

  • How to start the quest
  • Where to find the mysterious prisoner

There are many exciting side quests in God of War Ragnarök . The quest “The Crumbling Prison” brings a dark secret to light. We’ll show you how to solve the quest.

How do I start The Ruined Prison side quest?

After Asgard was destroyed during Ragnarök, much of the former Asen homeland has been scattered across the other worlds. A piece of an old prison has landed in the primordial world of Niflheim. After the main story finale, head to the Raven Tree in Niflheim .

A new path has emerged to the left of the tree . The characters will comment on this path and with that the side quest will start automatically.

How to free the prisoner in the ruined prison?

Follow the path, climb down the ice wall and enter the prison. Here you will meet some Hel runners. In the middle of the prison is a huge square hole. In this hole is also a red bar with an air hole in the wood.

Throw the spear into the air hole in the red wooden beam to be able to jump to the lower floor. There you will find a chain with which you move the wooden beam down one floor. Then you repeat the process until you see a second wooden beam that also has a hole for a spear.

Throw a spear into the hole and climb to the bottom floor . The real Týr is in the prison cell. If you free him there will be a dialogue and the quest will be complete.

Where can I find Týr in the nine worlds?

Týr spent years in Odin’s prison and is now savoring his freedom. After completing the quest, you can meet Týr in six locations . At each meeting, Kratos and Freya converse with Týr.

Midgard

In Midgard you can find Týr on the plateau of the ruined stone construction to the east of the lake. It’s near the elevator that takes you to Týr’s Temple .

alfheim

In Alfheim you will find Týr by the cliff pointing towards Strönd . The quickest way to this location is through the World Gate in the Temple of Light.

Vanaheim

You don’t have to look far in Vanaheim. Týr has made himself comfortable in Freyer’s camp . You can find him doing yoga on the shore with the wooden boats.

Svartalfheim

In the world of the dwarves, Týr has sat down on the island with the tower to watch the whale enslaved by Mimir. You’ll find him next to the bell you used to summon the whale to the surface.

Helheim

The cold of Helheim cannot harm the god of war, which is why you can even meet him here. He’s talking to the giant bird at Hel’s Overlook.

Muspelheim

In Muspelheim you must travel to the core of the world . You visited this place in the main story when Surtr became Ragnarök. This is the place where you fought the two Valkyries.

You can access this location via the Worldgate at the Burning Cliffs . Just follow the path to the core of the world.
