by I think Trobbio is undoubtedly one of the bosses that left the biggest mark on us in Act 2 of Hollow Knight Silksong , so having him back in Act 3 is something I’ve really enjoyed.

As you can see in the photo, Trobbio now looks much more “badass” (like he’s in his emo phase) and his new name is much more intimidating: Tormented Trobbio (it sounds even darker).
The battle is still literally a spectacle, although unfortunately for you, completing the show won’t be as easy as it was in your first battle.
Mission: Pain, Anguish and Misery
You will get the mission “Pain, Anguish and Misery” (like I said, it’s in “that phase”) at the Wall of Wishes in the Songbook Enclave (you know, the “base city” of Choir Chambers).
Note that it won’t appear until you’ve progressed a bit in the main Act 3 quest. If you don’t yet have the Old Hearts quest, continue progressing in the main quest.
If you already have the quest, Tormented Trobbio is located in the exact same spot where you faced him in Act 2. If you don’t remember the area, you can see the exact location in the image above.
Technically it’s located in the Whispering Vaults, but access from the Choir Chambers (next to the Bell Ways) is much easier and that’s the way I recommend you go.
Trobbio Attack Guide
Let’s look at his list of attacks. He has a similar skill set to the one he had in his first battle.
- Tornado : It moves by spinning like a tornado, leaving behind a trail of dust that explodes shortly after. When the attack ends, it launches two more tornadoes that rise upwards (one to each side), also leaving trails that explode shortly after. As you can see, you have to dodge several things in a single attack. I recommend using the Downward Air Strike several times until the entire attack ends (if you stay above it, you’re safe). If it creates the tornado in the air and flies too high, don’t jump or it will hit you; instead, pass underneath it.
- Explosive Bombs : Launches bombs that explode in columns shortly after. You can tell the direction of the explosion by the fire they emit before detonating. Be careful because if you are hit by the bomb (the projectile, not the explosion itself), you will also take damage. If you hit the bombs with the needle before they explode, they will be sent flying in another direction; however, I don’t really recommend doing this, it’s risky.
- Epic Explosion : First, it creates a column explosion in a “+” or “x” shape, then it creates several explosions across the screen. You’ll know where these final explosions will occur because of a kind of clustered particle effect you’ll see in the air.
- Digging : It starts “digging” under the stage platform (you’ll see where it moves, never stand in that area) and can do two things: throw bombs at you or jump up and fly for a while. Rarely, it emerges from under the platform without doing anything.
When you hit it a few times, phase 2 will begin.
Phase 2
Everything in the battle remains exactly the same except for Trobbio’s new attack, which we will call Explosive Pillars .
This happens quite often when he’s under the platform, and basically, several explosive pillars appear on the floor that you’ll have to dodge. You’ll know where they’re coming from because cracks will appear in the floor.
Strategy and Tips
The first thing to tell you is not to do the typical thing of staying close to him when he appears on the stage to give him a quick hit because when he stops being invulnerable he makes an area explosion.
Secondly, make sure you have the needle upgraded to the maximum and I recommend my Reaper build , which I consider to be the best build in Hollow Knight Silksong.
The battle will get increasingly crazy, and there comes a point where you see fireworks everywhere, which makes things a bit unsettling.
The best advice I can give you, in addition to all the previous ones, is that you need to heal when it uses its tornado attack . When it transforms into a tornado, use the Downward Air Slam to hit it and bounce off it, then use the air jump to position yourself above it (as high as possible) and heal in mid-air. It’s the safest way.
Reward for Defeating Him
Defeating him will not only complete the “Pain, Anguish and Misery” mission but will also give you the Dark Mirror .
This item, once you pick it up, will be added to your Mirror Claw tool (the one Trobbio gave you in the first battle) to upgrade it. It will now be called Mirror Claws (the design will feature two mirrors) and will deal significantly more damage. This is one of the most crucial items for the best Witch build.
