GUIDE TO THE FUNERAL GUARD DOG IN ELDEN RING

GUIDE TO THE FUNERAL GUARD DOG IN ELDEN RING

The Funeral Guard Dog of the Golden Tree (the name is cloth) is one of the numerous optional bosses that we will find on the Elden Ring map and it must be said that this one in particular is not too difficult, but hey, I bring you his guide anyway .

It is about a dog (which I thought was a cat, really) who carries a sword that he handles in a rather strange way and that is why it can surprise us. Also he really likes how to get stiff to be super tall, he’s quite funny.

Most likely, you can see it because it is the typical boss that repeats itself, that is, it appears in different areas with some slight change; here we will break down all the appearances of him, his location and the details that each one has.

NECROLIMBO FUNERARY GUARD DOG

Let’s start with the one that you will surely find first because it appears in Necrolimbo and it is not very hidden either.

LOCATION: STORMSCARP CATACOMBS

Stormscarp Catacombs in Elden Ring

The Golden Tree Funerary Guard Dog is located in the Storm Escarpment Catacombs , right where the “peephole” marks on the map. As you can see, we have it to the north from where our adventure begins (when we are already in the open area) a little to the west (by the mountain area, not the beach area).

As soon as we advance a little inside the Catacombs we will see a blocked door, we will have to go the other way (be careful because there will be several things that throw fire at us and you will have to run, a trick is that if you hit the things that throw fire deactivate). You will end up reaching a ladder to access the upper area where you will have to jump down to reach what would be an intermediate terrace, which is where you will find the lever that opens the door of the boss .

In this area you will also get the Ashes of Noble Wanderer, which I will recommend below.

ATTACKS AND STRATEGY OF THE GOLDEN TREE FUNERAL GUARD DOG

As we will always have to be very careful with his attacks, he has many of a normal nature (sword blows and others) but it is important that you stay above all with the following 3:

  • Dive Attack : He will begin to jump and fall while wielding the sword towards the ground. Of course we will have to prevent it from falling on or near us. If he doesn’t catch you too close to him you can dodge him simply by pulling back, if you see that he doesn’t then dodge backwards. After the attack you can take the opportunity to give him a quick blow (the jump attack comes in handy). But be on the lookout because when he does this attack he usually repeats it once in a while.
  • Flamethrower : It will start throwing fire and it will stay burning for a while where it hits. He throws it very slowly, it is very easy to dodge as long as you move away and then be careful not to step on burned areas (the flame goes out pretty quickly). You can also use the columns, which since the topic comes up, will come in handy when you want to heal yourself.
  • Instahit : When he gets stiff he will attack us with the sword, this is not very complicated; The thing is that you have to be very careful because in this state sometimes he suddenly launches an almost instantaneous attack because of how fast it is; You keep your shield up whenever you are close to block this attack. If he does it right when you attack him… well, bad luck, but after receiving the blow, jump out and as a result of that, he will make you a combo that annihilates you.

REWARDS

By defeating him we will obtain the following:

  • Ashes of Noble Sorcerer : Ashes with which we will summon a magician who will cast mini-spells. The truth is that he hits so little that it’s laughable, but hey, one more Ash for the collection.

WEEPING PENINSULA FUNERAL GUARD DOG

This is the second Funeral Guard Dog that I have come across, but that will depend on the route you take.

LOCATION: IMPALER CATACOMBS

Catacombs of the Impaler in Elden Ring

We will find this one in the Weeping Peninsula, specifically in the dungeon called « Catacombs of the Impalador «. In case someone does not know what the Weeping Peninsula is, it is the map that is further south, all that area below Necrolimbo separated by a bridge.

Well, as you can see in the photo, once you cross the bridge you have it to the East, little mystery. Looking at the dungeon as such, be careful because it is the typical one full of mini gargoyles of those that hide very well and that apply bleeding, they are quite annoying.

Of course, something you should keep in mind about this dungeon is that when you reach a huge elevator-like platform that will go up, you have to get off the platform and jump down through the “hole” that said platform has left when climbing.

ATTACKS AND STRATEGY

It’s basically the same thing, the only thing that changes is that in addition to the Funerary Guard Dog you will also have three of those mini gargoyles bothering you during the battle . My recommendation is that you use a Summoning Ash to distract them while you distract the boss to be able to eliminate all the mini-gargoyles and after that, proceed to annihilate the boss calmly.

REWARDS

By defeating him we will obtain the following:

  • Demihuman Ashes : Other Summoning Ashes.

LIURNIA FUNERAL GUARD DOG

Let’s continue with the third version of this boss that I have come across, will it be the last?

LOCATION: CATACOMBS AT THE FOOT OF THE CLIFF

Catacombs at the Foot of the Cliff in Elden Ring

This time it will appear in the Catacombs at the Foot of the Cliff , in Liurnia (the area to the north of Necrolimbo). As you can see, you have it a little north of Godrick ‘s castle . Since in the photo you can get a little confused about the exact location, it is where the mark is, but in the part below.

ATTACKS AND STRATEGY

Here we will not have basic enemies bothering us, but we will find a somewhat different Funeral Guard Dog because this time he will carry a wizard roll cane and perform some Spells . His moveset is more or less the same, only when he falls to the ground he will make a magic area and sometimes he will throw magic balls at us that we must dodge. Little more to say, very easy.

REWARDS

By defeating him we will obtain the following:

  • Kaiden’s Hire Soldier Ashes : Summoning Ashes again, for a change.
