Sir Vomitón, Ancient Guardian (Sir Barfalot, the English name is cooler, to be honest) is one of the bosses of the green area of Constance and once again we are faced with a boss where both combat and platforming are important.
He’s not an overly demanding boss, but he’s not easy either, and some of his attacks can be quite troublesome; I found him easier than Brian . However, you’ll see how this guide will make the boss much easier.

Boss Location: Cavernous Chambers

Sir Vomitón is located in the Cavernous Chambers (the green area). First, you have to go to the place marked with the purple tear, talk to Emilie, then check the rubble to her left until you eventually fall (a huge fall that you won’t be able to avoid).
From here, your goal is to keep progressing; you’ll quickly acquire the “Wall Dive” Brush Technique. This ability allows you to climb walls .
Keep going and you’ll eventually reach a room with a shrine and an elevator (you can see the room I’m referring to in the picture). From here, it’s easy to reach the boss, as it’s located to the left.
By the way, if you get stuck in the area, you should know that you can get through spikes blocking a path down by climbing a wall and dropping down (in Splatoon mode) from that wall.
Sir Vomiton’s Attack Guide
The boss doesn’t have phases as such, but rather a cycle of attacks that repeats itself:
Jump + Bubbles
Sir Vomitón will leap across the screen, and each time he lands, he’ll drop one of those green explosive balls you’ll remember from the area. These balls explode if you get too close, damaging you.
You can safely trigger their explosion by hitting them from a distance (with the Brush Thrust, for example), the normal attack also works if you are careful.
The best strategy is to take advantage of this opportunity to hit him as much as possible, since it’s the only time you can land multiple hits. You’ll have to be very careful with his jumps and the green orb explosions, but take the risk anyway, because you’ll barely be able to touch him with his other attacks.
My recommendation is that you use normal attacks and also the Brush Thrust to keep hitting him.
Tremendous Vomit
When you see it jump to the center of the screen and start vacuuming, take the opportunity to hit it for a while.
Shortly after, he’ll start vomiting towards the ground, covering the entire screen… (yuck). The vomit will rise, so you have to use the “Wall Dive” technique to climb the side walls and avoid the damage caused by touching it.
You can technically access the central pillars (you reach the top by climbing one of the side walls and use the dash to get through the spiked plant), but the truth is that this is very risky and at most you’ll be able to hit it once or twice, so I wouldn’t recommend it too much.
Instead, stay climbing the side wall at the top (carefully managing your paint to avoid taking damage; stay on the wall for a while, come on!) and wait for the attack to end. How do you know there’s no more vomit on the screen? Because you’ll hear a sound like a drain that’s just been emptied.
Ambush
Sir Vomitón will begin teleporting you to your position to deliver a double slash. Use the dash as soon as he appears.
Additionally, you’ll occasionally see the boss perform a short dash to the side. At this point, you must jump because he then unleashes a very fast charging attack that fills the entire lower portion of the screen. As soon as you’re airborne, be very careful because he’ll attack you in the same way with an aerial teleportation that you’ll have to dodge with your dash .
After a while performing these attacks, it will return to its “Jump + Bubbles” move and the cycle of its attacks begins again.
Additional Tips
Make sure you equip the “Sustain” Inspiration, as this will regenerate a little health (it won’t be much at first, you can improve it, but every little helps) when you hit enemies with the Brush Thrust.
Rewards for Overcoming the Battle
This is what you get for defeating Sir Vomiton:
- Inspiration (Dark Embrace) : A very interesting Inspiration as it negates the damage dealt by using Paint Dive (the dash ) while corrupted. Additionally, you will deal a small amount of damage to nearby enemies when using it (while corrupted).
- 32 Glimpses : The main currency of the game.
- 16 Light Stones : To improve Inspirations in the base city.
And that’s it! What did you think of the encounter against Sir Vomitón in Constance ? Much easier than the last one, right? Leave a comment!
