IS THE STAFF OF THE SCARLET SANDS WORTH IT IN GENSHIN?

IS THE STAFF OF THE SCARLET SANDS WORTH IT IN GENSHIN?

The Staff of the Scarlet Sands is a 5-star spear from Genshin Impact designed to greatly enhance Cyno (it is his weapon after all, it would be quite strange if it weren’t) but as is often the case with this type of weapon… you know the story, the other characters in the game don’t take advantage of it so well, a shame, but we’re getting used to it.

And the truth is that the weapon as such seems like a real blast to me (now you’ll see better in the analysis) but it has that kind of quite specific requirements to make sure that no one takes advantage of it as well as Cyno, which doesn’t mean that there are other characters that if they can take advantage of it… only that these other characters usually have better options and with fewer “buts” that make them unable to take full advantage of it (these things are studied a lot, it shows).

But hey, let’s go with the analysis and as always at the end I leave you with the character recommendations.

ATTRIBUTES OF THE STAFF OF THE SCARLET SANDS IN GENSHIN IMPACT

Let’s start by looking at its attributes:

  • Base Attack Level 1: 44.
  • Base Attack Level 90: 542.

Regarding the Base Attack, I would say that we started a little badly since even though it is a 5-star weapon, it is below in this sense compared to even 4-star weapons such as the Lytic Spear , the Moonpiercer and of course the Wavecutter Fin ( that the latter’s Base Attack is insane). Thus , the 5-star Spear with a lower Base Attack , something that of course weighs on all characters who base their damage on Attack.

Let’s take a look at his secondary stat:

  • Critical Chance Level 1: 9.6%.
  • Critical Chance Level 90: 44.1%.

Luckily it gives us a very good amount of Critical Chance, so it will be quite easy to balance the critical rate with the equipped weapon. It is true that it is to the detriment of the Base Attack, but beware that the passive is coming and the thing has fabric.

The Passive Skill grants the following effect:

  • 52% (104% at R5) of the Elemental Mastery of the character equipping the weapon is converted to Attack.
  • Damaging with the Elemental Ability adds +28% (56% on R5) to Elemental Mastery converted to Attack over 10s and can stack up to 3 times.

The passive is crazy no matter how you look at it, let’s do the math. At R1 and assuming we have all 3 charges, it would be 188% of the character’s Elemental Mastery converted to Attack. If we had, for example, 400 Elemental Mastery (not crazy at all) we would get +752 Flat Attack , which is not bad at all. With more refinement and higher amounts of Elemental Mastery it’s already going crazy.

WHAT CHARACTER DO I PUT IT ON?

It is obvious that the Staff of the Scarlet Sands is a weapon designed for spearmen who make good use of Elemental Mastery in order to be able to orient themselves a little more towards that statistic and not lose Attack in the process since the spear itself will already provide it to us in based on the Mastery… but… for it to spread at all it has to be a character that does not have Energy Recharge problems and also hits often with the Skill, which complicates the matter quite a bit.

Cyno is of course, to no one’s surprise, the best candidate we currently have for this spear since he is a character that benefits a lot from Elemental Mastery and his thing is to use him in teams with Dendro to make the most of that Mastery. Elemental with Intensification since it is a very powerful reaction for characters that apply a lot of Electro as he is (on top of that, he takes advantage of this statistic). The problem with putting a lot of Elemental Mastery on him is that you could fall short in Attack, which in the end is a very important attribute for him too…. but that problem is solved by this spear.

Hu Tao in Genshin Impact

Hu Tao is another good candidate for the Spear (someone whose favorite character she is tells you) since it is recommended to take it with a good amount of Elemental Mastery to greatly enhance the damage of its vaporized ones, which is why on the clock it is It is usually recommended to equip Life % or Elemental Mastery (with this spear you put the Mastery, of course). And in case anyone is confused, the fact that Hu Tao doesn’t take advantage of Attack % because he has a nefarious Base Attack has nothing to do with the Attack bonus of the spear since what it gives us is a Flat Attack directly and therefore its low Base Attack has no bearing on it.

The bad thing is that we would only activate the first passive since the second part requires DAMAGE with the Elemental Ability and since Hu Tao does not do damage with this (he simply cheta) then it is true that he loses a lot of potential when he launches it. comparing it to the extremely good use Cyno would make of it. But… it’s still an option to consider, especially if you go with a well-built Sucrose to give you more Elemental Mastery.

Obviously Homa Staff gives it a thousand turns , but if you don’t have that spear (get it because it’s god) this is a good alternative (I would put it in that sense more or less at the same level as the Jade Falcon as  long as you have a good amount of Master’s degree). Of course, in this case you will have to look for a lot of Life% in substats so that it does not fall short in this statistic.

Other characters but less recommended for the weapon:

  • Xiangling: He has a great game on Elemental Mastery (in the typical vaporized composition) and the Attack he would get in the process would be great, but the problem is that Xiangling needs a lot of Energy Recharge to work well and get a decent Recharge together at a high Mastery (without losing critical, pyro damage bonus, which are vital in the end) to take advantage of this spear seems practically impossible to me. Sucrose would help him in that sense at least, that’s true. At least in this case, since Guoba keeps attacking in the field, we could give him more advantage than Hu Tao (you take out the bear at the beginning of the rotation, you rotate the other characters so that the charges increase and then you throw the Pyronado; problem with this , that Guoba misses more shots than a fairground shotgun, so it will depend on luck there). Any,The Capture and zero problems better.
