Theseus and the Minotaur , also known as Asterion , are the only joint boss we will have to face in our escape attempts in Hades .
Although Theseus is famous for having killed the Minotaur, seeing him wandering through the underworld took pity on him and offered him a place of honor at his side in Elysium, now both have been recruited by Hades and fight side by side to stop him. to Zagreo; Asterion has a noble and respectable character while Theseus is quite arrogant.
This combat changes a bit depending on the amount of life we lower the enemies and which of them we eliminate first, so let’s see how to approach this encounter.
LOCATION OF THESEUS AND ASTERION IN HADES
The fight against Theseus and Asterion will take place in the Elysium Coliseum, which would be the last chamber in that location after which we can make our way to the Temple of the Styx.
It is possible to find Asterion before reaching this place if we open a door behind which there is a miniboss (the doors with a small skull), if we find him and defeat him he will have 20% less life when we find him together again Theseus in the Coliseum.
COMBAT PHASES AND TIPS
Both Theseus and the Minotaur have their own health bar and their own attack kit (although they also have joint attacks); if Asterion’s health is halved, he will start doing area attacks after doing downward attacks with his ax and when Theseus’ health is halved as well, he will randomly call a God of Olympus to help him out. combat.
This is why the strategy to follow is to defeat one of them first, since if we try to reduce both at the same time it will be counterproductive and the fight will be complicated. We personally recommend defeating Asterion first , as when this happens, Theseus simply loses the attacks he does with the Minotaur as a whole; but if instead we kill Theseus first, Asterion will become enraged and increase his movement and attack speed.
In this combat, the blessings of Hermes will be very useful, as they increase the number of dashes we can do, increase our movement speed, or make us robust for a short period of time.
The columns of the coliseum will help us stop both Asterion’s charges and Theseus’ javelin throws; Another help that we can use is Eurydice’s Perennial Acorn, which will mitigate all the damage from the first five attacks we receive from a boss (if we have it promoted to three stars).
THESEUS ATTACKS GUIDE
In addition to having these attacks, Theseus has a shield with which he will block a large part of our attacks, so we will have to try to hit him from behind.
- Spear Sweep : If we get very close to his position, he will sweep with his spear covering a considerable area, after finishing this we can attack him for a few seconds.
- Accurate Javelin : Theseus will mark us as his objective (we will notice it when we see a crosshair on Zagreo) and after a few moments he will throw it at us; It doesn’t matter how far we are from it since it can cover any distance in the field, so we can only dodge it by being in continuous movement or taking cover behind one of the pillars of the coliseum.
- Camaraderie : Asterion will call Theseus to throw him quickly against us as if it were a human javelin, to avoid this movement, look where Asterion’s hand is pointing.
- Seismic Wave : Asterion carries out a charge against Theseus’ shield to create a wave that will cover a large part of the field; to evade this movement we just have to make a dash in the direction in which it comes and thus we will avoid that it does us damage.
- Pray to the Gods : Once Theseus’s life has been reduced by half, he will randomly call a God of Olympus to help him in combat (with the exception of Hermes), they will help passively by generating circles on the ground that will help us They will do damage if we stay in them, they usually repeat the pattern in which they appear from time to time, so they will be easy to avoid if we remember the area of the battlefield in which they appear.
ASTERION ATTACKS GUIDE
Except for the attacks he performs in conjunction with Theseus, he uses the same attack kit as in his previous encounter as a miniboss.
- Pursuit : Asterion will chase us for a long time throughout the battlefield to ram us, in order to avoid this blow we must do a lot of dashes surrounding the columns so that it crashes into them and stops chasing us.
- Taurine Fury : He makes two cuts with his ax and after this he jumps towards our direction to make a downward attack with the ax.
- Air Edge : After carrying out the previous blow, you can repeat your descending attack up to three times in a row, to dodge these blows we will quickly move to the position in which Asterion is, since it will not do us any damage while jumping.
- Seismic Wave : Asterion carries out a charge against Theseus’ shield to create a wave that will cover a large part of the field; to evade this movement we just have to make a dash in the direction in which it comes and thus we will avoid that it does us damage.
- Air Blade + : When Asterion loses half his health, his ax’s downward attacks will cause three waves that attack in an area from the position where the ax hit.
