These share many similarities with the common Zombie but have some specific differences that make them unique, especially their affinity with water. WHAT EXACTLY ARE THE DROWNED IN MINECRAFT?
The Drowned are common Zombies , who in their walks around the world, have drowned; and that they have been reborn as a Drowned, which would be a version of the Zombie adapted to water in order to survive in it.
Note that their design is the same, but nevertheless, their meat has a more… bluish tone and they even have moss on their skin.
This can be verified in fact, since if a common Zombie spends a long time submerged in water, it will begin to tremble. After a few seconds you will see how it becomes a Drowned… Well, that’s where the name comes from: They are literally Zombies that have drowned .
THE DROWNED ONLY SPAWN IN WATER
This enemy, in addition to spawning when a Zombie drowns, is also randomly spawned in water areas: rivers, oceans, lakes … in your home pool?! etc. This gives them a certain tactical advantage as you probably already know that regular Zombies get sunburned and being in the water filters out these sun rays to a great extent, so they are fairly protected from the light there.
They will only appear if the light level is not high, so if you have a pool at home, it had better be well lit if you do not want it to be filled with unexpected guests.
THE DROWNED KNOW HOW TO SWIM AND THEY DON’T DROWN!
The drowned (as strange as it sounds) will never drown in water, they can spend their lives there without drowning and they also have the ability to swim . They will swim with the animation that Steve has in Minecraft and in fact they are quite fast swimming, especially considering that they are Zombies.
HOW TO PREVENT YOURSELF FROM DROWNING
By day you’ll be completely safe as long as you don’t go swimming, as there could be Drowned there and they’d swim out to hit you.
The problem is at night , since since the sunlight will disappear, they can come to the surface and if they see you, it is obvious that they will go after you. So at night you should watch out even if you are on land, especially if there is an aquatic area nearby.
As soon as the light begins to come out, they will run to the water to protect themselves from the sunlight. Remember that artificial light will continue to prevent us from its appearance, as I have already mentioned with the case of the pool.
HOW TO GET THE TRIDENT
The Trident is one of the main reasons why it is quite worthwhile to kill the Drowned that you encounter, since it is a fairly effective ranged weapon and has some very interesting Enchantments .
Keep in mind that sometimes (it does not have a high probability) Drowned may appear carrying this Trident, these are the most dangerous because they can attack you from a distance (even while in the water); As several people catch you swimming and start throwing Tridents at you from a distance, you will be in a hurry.
The fact is that if you want to get a Trident, you will have to kill them since by doing so there is a small chance that they will drop a Trident; whether they carry one or not. This does not mean that if the Drowned in question is carrying a Trident, it will be much more likely to drop it on you… in fact the probability will be 100%, but as you probably already know, the object will appear with a random durability.
THEY DON’T BREAK DOORS
Unlike the common variant of the Zombie, the Drowned do not have the ability to smash doors , so in that sense you can rest easy if you have your house near a water area. Which does not mean that a normal Zombie can still come to break it hahaha. But hey, now you have the data!
CAN CARRY A FISHING ROD AND NAUTILUS
As a curious fact, and it is not very likely, the Drowned or Drowned can appear with a Fishing Rod equipped or even with a Nautilus or Nautilus Shell.
In fact, one could even appear that carries a Rod or a Trident in one hand and a Nautilus in the other, but it would be something very rare.
CHOKED WITH ARMOR?
It may happen that you come across a Drowned Person wearing armor, but you should know that if this happens it is because said Drowned Person was in a previous life a common Zombie that has been transformed into a Drowned Person due to drowning.
Drowned that spawn randomly around the world will never spawn with armor.
THINGS YOU SHARE WITH ZOMBIES
Here are some things the Drowned have in common with regular Zombies:

- They attack Turtle Eggs and Baby Turtles.
- They tend to form hordes.
- They can appear in Baby version and can be mounted on a chicken, even in the water.

- 5 experience points and between 1 and 3 extra for each extra riding they carry. Baby Drowned are 12 experience.
