Terra is one of those powerful big animals that Ochette must recruit in Octopath Traveler 2 to deal with the great calamity that is supposed to come and wreak havoc, or so the prophecy says at least.
This time it will not happen like with Cateracta where “we were lucky” and we did not have to face him or her since in the end we stayed with their young. The case, we will have to defeat Terra and the truth is that he is a pretty powerful boss.
The battle is not too complicated anyway, but in my opinion it will be quite important to have Temenos well leveled (or another character you have the Cleric Side Job with, of course) and equipped because AoE Healing will be very relevant in this one. battle for the high damage this boss does; the good thing is that this offsets him a bit in our favor since he is extremely slow (most often you have more than one character action before he attacks).
PREVIOUS TIPS
Regarding the level requirement, this time it will be level 29 and as I always say, your thing would be to pay attention to this and that your characters are at that level at least. Anyway, in my case I had Ochette at 22 and I got it, but this is because she has a lot of health and since my other characters were at levels 32 and up, it was noticeable.
I recommend that you not be lazy like me and that you bring all your characters to the recommended level because that way the battle will be much easier. In my case it took me a long time to lower him (let’s see, he has a lot of life, that’s clear) probably because of the poor damage my Ochette did.
TERRA’S WEAKNESSES
These are Terra’s weaknesses. Clarify that we will only face him, he has no partner (thank goodness):
- Dagger
- Axe
- Walking stick
- Ice
- Darkness
In any case, be careful because as the battle progresses, Terra will lose weaknesses (be careful, losing, not blocking; she loses them forever). Every time you lower a certain amount of life, it will harden its skin and get rid of one of its weaknesses, so you’ll have to adapt to the situation and it will be more and more difficult to stun it (stunning it is very key because being so slow we can hit him many times between when he comes to his senses).
At the end of the battle when he is almost at the last, he will only have 2 weaknesses, he cannot go down from there, it is his limit.
RECOMMENDED CHARACTERS
These are the characters that I recommend for battle. They are the ones I used (I usually vary something when I pass them to me that I know will be better for you), you can always adapt it a bit to your liking or to the state of your game.
- Hikari : I always recommend it. The best tank and also the best physical attacker; 100% recommended. On this occasion it would be highly recommended to take him with a Thief Side Job since Terra is weak to Daggers and Darkness and it would be great to have more chances to stun him (especially as the battle progresses). Another option would be the opposite, a Warrior Throne… but I prefer Hikari.
- Osvald : The best DPS in the game in my opinion for his tremendous magic damage. It is true that he excels more in area damage, but even so he is still a monster. In my case , Terra kept the Ice weakness throughout the battle (I don’t know if it’s random to lose weaknesses or not), so it was great for me.
- Ochette : We have to take it yes or yes, his ax will be great for us. Highly recommended to put a Side Job as a Thief or perhaps a Dancer to be able to count on a dagger for what can happen with her weaknesses.
- Temenos : Indispensable since the boss is very slow but hits terrible cakes, the good thing is that we will have enough time to recover our group. Focus mostly on healing and only attack (Highly recommended Scholar Side Job to have Ice spells or support Osvald with «Advanced Magic» or «Alephan’s Lore») when your party is in optimal condition (if you have any with life to spare). below 80% you better heal him because Terra hits so hard). Castti with Cleric Side Job (vital to have clerics in this battle) would be an alternative.
STRATEGY TO DEFEAT HIM
More or less the usual strategy, which in the end is the most effective. We are hitting his weaknesses with attacks without Impulse and when we stun him is when we must use all the Impulse we have to do the maximum damage possible. As we have already mentioned, the boss will have fewer and fewer weaknesses, so it will cost more and more to stun him.
Facing Hikari try to use her Heaven Slash Potential ability when you stun him using max Boost because it does tremendous damage. Osvald will be spamming his Ice spells and in the same way we will save the Potential and the Impulse for when we stun him; very key when the team is not in a very tight state of health, support it with an “Advanced Magic” by Temenos (as I already told you, his would be to take it with Scholar’s Secondary Job); In any case, save his Boost for when you have the party very annoyed, especially if you ever get a character killed, which can happen perfectly. Ochette will follow the same strategy of lowering his shield and keeping his momentum until he is stunned; facing his Potential,
Temenos will be the great pillar of this battle, you will have to use “Cure Wounds” very often to heal your group. Since you normally have 2 turns between when the boss attacks, the most common thing at the beginning will be to dedicate one turn to healing (always the first) and the other to support Osvald with “Advanced Magic” or to hit with Ice spells to lower his shield.
However, when the boss is low on health, it will become increasingly difficult to heal the group. He will first start dealing additional passive Fire damage to you at the end of each turn and there will come a point where characters who physically hit him will take Fire damage to the face. When that happens you will most likely have to heal every turn, but it will also mean that there is little left for you to defeat him, so hold your group with Temenos (or Castti Cleric, whatever you want) while you finish defeating him with the other characters.
I highly recommend that you equip the Support Skill ” Resurrection ” since it will make our character who equips it automatically revive with 25% of their maximum health when dying; In my case, Temenos killed me and this ability saved my game. Oh, and bring AP restore items in case your Osvald runs dry (at least it happened to me).
