The Uchigatana is already a classic in Souls and is back in Elden Ring . This is one of the best weapons in the game, especially for those who want a light weapon and therefore prefer to opt for builds more oriented towards Dexterity or even Quality (Strength + Dexterity).
It is a very complete Katana. It’s fast, light, powerful, decent scaling (it’ll get better as you level it up like most weapons) and also applies the bleed status ailment, which frankly comes in handy and is very offensive.
As if that were not enough, it is not very complicated to get it and we will be able to have it quite soon in our game, so if you are interested, you already know. Of course, in this guide we will tell you how to get it and we will also do an in-depth analysis as we have already done with other weapons such as the Sworn Greatsword or the Great Épée (to mention a few examples).
UCHIGATANA ATTRIBUTES
These are his stats:
- Base Damage level 1:
- 115 Physical.
- Weight: 5.5.
- Critical: 100.
- Protections:
- Physical: 45.
- magic 30
- Fire: 30.
- Lightning: 30.
- Holy: 30.
- Stability: 30.
- Attribute Scaling:
- Strength 😀
- Dexterity: d
- Necessary Attributes:
- Force 11.
- Dexterity 15.
Uchigatana does not have a very high base damage since it is a light weapon after all and it hits quite fast , so what it loses on one side it gains on the other. It will hit less than a Greatsword , but between the times it deals a hit, you deal 2 or 3.
His scaling isn’t very high, but a D in both Strength and Dexterity isn’t bad at all; that’s why I recommend it for Dexterity or Quality builds (for Strength builds I think something heavier is better). Let’s not forget that we will also apply bleeding, which in the end is even more damage. In fact, it’s one of the weapons I recommend in the Best Bleeding Build .
Its weight is very light, something that will help us to be able to roll better and equip more powerful armor without the “Heavy Load” penalty and its requirements are very low, so you can easily use it correctly. Regarding protections and stability, it is a Katana, obviously, they are not too good. Ideal if you are looking for a light and powerful weapon, but also for Quality or Dexterity builds where you don’t mind carrying a slightly heavier weapon (and also more powerful, but less fast, of course), I would recommend the Hound Fang . And if you’re looking for raw speed, check out the Reduvia .
HOW TO GET IT
If you chose the Samurai class , you’re in luck because you already have it as standard. But for the rest, we can find it in the Catacombs of Death . It is not hidden at all, if you investigate the area well you will find it.
The only thing is that this area is full of skeletons and they are quite annoying because they revive when they die and others. The key is to hit them with holy damage when they’re reviving to prevent them from actually dying. By the way, in this dungeon we find what for now is the easiest boss to defeat in Elden Ring: The Black Knives Assassin , a boss joke, if you haven’t done it yet, you’ll see. I’ll leave you the guide linked here, but come on, I don’t think you need it.
