Papyrus is one of the coolest characters in Undertale and a community favorite. And it is that this skeleton has won the hearts of many people with his innocent, mocking attitude and above all because of his enormous kindness.
Therefore… Who would want to kill Papyrus? (except in the Genocide Route , of course, but it still hurts to do it) Although all the bosses of Undertale have that component that makes it a bit sad to finish them off, this is without a doubt the one that should make us doubt the most.
So you know, if you are taking a Pacifist Route or if you are just playing your game and do not want for anything in the world to end up with this skeleton, read on.
THE BATTLE AGAINST PAPYRUS
Papyrus has one of the funniest battles in all of Undertale, especially due to his dialogues and the things that will come up.
- When you propose a date, he will not stop thinking about her and will not focus. He will even insist that he is not thinking about it.
- That moment in which after several dialogues saying that he is taking a lot of things from behind his ear (like ice cream) he ends up realizing that he does not have ears because he is a skeleton.
- When Annoying Dog messes up his special attack and he ends up doing a “Regular Attack”.
- He will even try to help you if you take damage by giving you advice!
Things like you’re adding your theme (Bonetrousle) playing in the background, which gives a lot of punch for such a comical combat, make this one of the best Undertale battles… and that’s saying a lot. Though now that I think about it, all bosses are cool in some way.
HOW TO FORGIVE PAPYRUS
To forgive him we will have to use a tactic similar to the one we used with Toriel , which is basically to never attack him . By doing this, his dialogues will advance, as well as his attacks, and after a few turns you will finally be able to forgive him, although in this case it is Papyrus himself who decides to forgive you.
You can use both Act actions and Spare itself, as long as you don’t attack and I think actually as long as you don’t kill him. Anyway, don’t attack him, don’t be a bad person, he’s Papyrus.
And by the way, you will see that in the options within Act, one will appear in which you ask for a date. I highly recommend you do this as this is how you will end up befriending Papyrus and this is a requirement if you want to do the True Pacifist Route . From among the options when asked, choose the spaghetti.
THE DATE WITH PAPYRUS
If you have achieved the Date with Papyrus you will have to wait for the battle to end (when he forgives you) and when you are made to choose between a dialogue option, choose “be friends”. After this you will be very happy.
Now you must go back to Snowdin. You will find him in front of the door of his house, he will make a joke by going around several times to end up returning to his house and he will let you in.
Sans will be in his room with those strange lights and will only go out to play the trombone in one of the events that take place in the house of both skeleton brothers. Papyrus will wait for you to enter her room, which is the one on the left.
As for the date, I prefer not to tell you anything, but you know that no matter what options you choose, yes or yes you will end up being Papyrus’s friend and it seems that there is nothing that this skeleton can take badly if it comes from you.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE AGAINST PAPYRUS?
Well don’t worry, because Papyrus will never kill you , instead he will leave you with one to live and take you to his dog’s (huge by the way) kennel to hold you captive until Undyne arrives . You will have there a small dog bed, dog food and a rather funny note from Papyrus.
However, getting out is extremely easy, as this doesn’t lock you in at all or anything, so you’re “hijacked” with lots of quotes.
When you return to him, the dialogues will change and if you lose again, he will capture you again. It will leave you a different note.
The funny thing is that when he captures you three times, which by the way, when that happens he will even put some cut sausages in the dog’s feeder… he will end up getting tired of capturing you and will admit defeat.
Therefore:
- Papyrus will never kill you.
- Whether you win or lose, you will end up winning.
So now you know everything there is to know about the fight against Papyrus, because there’s not much to talk about the Genocide Route either. He is so good-natured that you will always end up winning and he will never hurt you, he even offers you free accommodation and regular maintenance, but with very good faith, yes.
