GUIDE TO THE GIANT GOOMBA IN MARIO + RABBIDS SOH

GUIDE TO THE GIANT GOOMBA IN MARIO + RABBIDS SOH

Giant Goomba is the second boss you should defeat in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope , at least if you’re like me and you’re one of those who tries to get the most out of the game since this is an optional boss after all; yes, given the reward they offer us, I think it’s quite worth doing, we’ll talk about that below.

The boss is a bit of a freak, it has to be said, but it’s easier than it looks when you adopt the right strategy; which of course, I will tell you here. Clarified all this, let’s go with the guide!

BOSS LOCATION: BOTTOM LIGHTHOUSE – TEMPLE OF DAWN

To face Giant Goomba you will have to go to the Temple of Dawn in the Lighthouse Background and have 13 Sparks under your belt, something impossible to achieve if you do not advance to the second world (Pristine Peaks), so you will have to do all the secondary content you can until you reach that number.

You have the exact location on the map of the game itself, the typical Spark icon in the Temple of Dawn.

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

This is the team and the Sparks that I recommend for this battle, by this point in the game you should already have the fact that you can carry your characters with 2 Sparks simultaneously:

  • Luigi : In this battle (and in almost all) he is god. He will allow us to do a lot of damage to Giant Goomba from a distance with his arrows and through his technique we will eliminate small enemies automatically.
    • Denterio : Increases the damage of weapons and when activated we can move enemies away, this includes Giant Goomba and it will be great for us to move him away and not eat so much ground between us when we defeat him.
    • Reflector : Increases the critical chance (brutal for Luigi) and when activating it we will reflect part of the damage we receive; ideal when you anticipate an attack, but it will be rare for Luigi to receive damage in this battle given the strategy we will have.
  • Mario : I usually build him with jumps/movements (Mario is brutal like that), but in this battle you will have to build him with shots and technique since you can neither jump on Giant Goomba nor dash him .
    • Etherium : Increases the damage of movement skills and allows us to become invisible for a few turns. This will allow us to be able to get closer to the enemies without fear of being targeted , so we can also damage some of the small enemies with the dash for free. It’s not optimal given that we build him with shots this time, but we also don’t have a wide arsenal of Sparks at the moment and it is what it is.
    • Exoshield : It also increases the damage of abilities and when activating it we will reduce the damage received by allies in the area (the same character counts). More in case Goomba gets too close, but with this strategy that shouldn’t happen.
  • Edge : I usually run Rabbid Peach, but in this fight it’s better to quickly take down the boss and try not to take damage than to heal and stuff. Build it to damage.
    • Astrompazo : Reduces the physical damage received (no more) and when activating it we will increase the damage of all allies in the area and of the same character. Ideal to get off the boss faster, it shows a lot.
    • Seismic : Gives you immunity to the toxic effect and reduces the effectiveness of other ailments you receive by 30%, which does not matter to us. What matters to us is that when we activate it we will deal 3 hits in the area and in the end it is additional damage.

HOW TO DEFEAT GIANT GOOMBA

Giant Goomba Battlefield

The strategy is as follows:

We want to stay as far back as we can (as long as we can damage Giant Goomba) and always well covered so that the extra enemies don’t start shooting at us, which are very annoying. Luigi will arrive without problems, especially if you have increased the range of his attacks to the maximum, and he will be the character that causes the most damage without major problems.

Mario will be able to advance a little more to attack with movement skills (they do not spend points) to some of the extra enemies (with the invisibility active he will not be exposed) but his points must always be spent on going down to Giant Goomba since the battle takes place as overcome when you defeat the boss; defeating the other enemies is irrelevant and if you take too long to kill him, more and more and more will appear; come on, the idea is to delete the boss as fast as you can and survive it.

Edge will also cause damage to Giant Goomba and since his attacks hit all the enemies he grows with, well, if you can take the opportunity to hit the boss and an extra enemy along the way, go for it. Do not forget to use Astrompazo to increase the damage of your allies.

Keep in mind that Giant Goomba will advance towards your area and destroy everything in its path (enemies and blocks), so if there is an enemy in its path, leave it to die alone. If he gets closer you will have to go back because if he catches you he does colossal damage. Remember that with Denterio you can force him to back up a bit (which you can also use to your advantage if he has an enemy behind him to step on and kill him). Don’t be afraid, if you do it right, it won’t lock you up.

Oh, I almost forgot, the reward for defeating him is an object called a Golden Prism , what it does is that it allows us to enable the hidden talent tree of one of our characters; this will unlock quite interesting new skills, but I don’t recommend that you spend it until you are sure of it (I put it on Luigi more to tell you what he does and because I love it, his thing would be to wait for you to be clear about which characters are the most you like them).
