Giant Swallow is the second optional boss in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and as we already saw when facing the previous optional boss ( Giant Goomba ), these types of bosses seem to be the most complicated at the moment.
In any case, it is still an encounter that is not too complicated if you follow the correct strategy, but… in this type of boss it is very easy to die and in turn they demand us to inflict a large amount of damage if we want to come out successful since the battle lasts longer the easier it will be for us to die and Giant Swallow has a pretty generous amount of health for the point in the game you’ll more or less be at when you get to her (if you leave them for more at the end it will be much easier, of course, I like it do them as soon as I unlock them).
BOSS LOCATION: PRISTINE PEAKS – WINTER PALACE
You will find the battle against Giant Swallowtail in the Winter Palace of Pristine Peaks, it does not have much mystery since in this game all the objectives are marked on the map; this is specifically right at the entrance of the palace, you go up the first stairs and go left.
Of course, keep in mind that in order to access this battle they will ask us as a requirement to have a total of 19 Sparks , something that you can only achieve if you continue with the story of the next game map (Principaleta) and then come back from new back.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT
This is the equipment and the Sparks that I recommend for this battle:
- Mario : Buildeado to shots and technique.
- Electroid : Using it will increase weapon damage for one turn and deal electrical damage.
- Pyrostar : Using it will increase weapon damage for one turn and cause fire damage (the latter will come in handy against the Blue Wildclaws).
- Luigi : I always recommend him, he’s always a god, but against bosses is where he shines the most. Buildeado to shots and technique; It is very important that you have the entire technique tree filled out, the first 2 weapon skills the same and to finish off the first movement skill also completely.
- Denterio : Increases the damage of weapons and when activated we can move enemies away.
- Reflector : Increases the critical chance and when activated we will reflect part of the damage we receive.
- Rabbid Mario : Built above all weapons to cause maximum damage and also mobility. Very important the ability to move after attacking with weapons.
- Astrompazo : Reduces the physical damage received and when activated we will increase the damage of all allies in the area and of the same character (vital to cause massive damage to the boss).
- Refulgence : Increases weapon damage and when activated we will attract enemies towards our character (we want to use this only if we stand on the opposite side of our characters to move the boss away a little, something that comes in handy given the Rabbid Mario’s high mobility).
Rabbid Estela should be a highly recommended character for this battle, although I used the ones I mentioned above. We could paralyze the enemies to be able to focus more calmly on the boss (in addition, he would eat more shots from Mario and Luigi techniques) and also has a very good damage to Single Target.
HOW TO DEFEAT GIANT SWALLOW
As you can see you have the boss in the center, to his right he has a couple of snipers and to the left some Blue Wildclaws that will get closer to annoy you. First of all, keep in mind that Giant Swallow is immune to altered states (we have put them on mario to cause more damage, not for anything else) and also to acceleration and even mario jump when he is flying (that’s why we don’t build it to mobility, it is what it is).
The boss will jump closer to us (like those rabbit pigs you’ve seen a lot of times already) only it will cause terrible damage if it hits us and it will also push us quite far (which is why it is easy for it to throw us into the empty, taking more damage in the process). The idea is to attack only Giant Swallow because we want it to fall as quickly as possible (the objective is to defeat it, it doesn’t matter if there are enemies left, we will be eliminating them passively anyway, I tell you).
That said, the idea is to focus on constantly attacking only Giant Swallow, what about the other enemies? Well , they will fall with the technique of Luigi and Mario since they cause damage to the enemies that move and they tend to move before the boss, it is a way to defeat them passively and very simply (The Blue Wildclaws fall into nothing if you have Mario with Fire Spark active).
Little more to say, abuse all your offense so that the boss falls quickly; when he is close to you try to move away a little or make him move away with the Spark Refulgencio or with Denterio. If portals appear, destroy them quickly, luckily only one will appear very occasionally.
