GUIDE AND CURIOS OF THE LABYRINTH IN DARKEST DUNGEON

GUIDE AND CURIOS OF THE LABYRINTH IN DARKEST DUNGEON

The Labyrinth is a somewhat annoying area of Darkest Dungeon (it already seems redundant to say this because in reality they all are, but this is the worst for me) that stands out for the presence of many beast and human type enemies, so surely You can already imagine some of the characters that we will recommend for the area.

This is one of the areas where our characters will get the most stress, so it will be very important to have characters that allow us to deal with this, either with Stress Reduction skills (like the Jester’s) or with Criticals (which is a one of the best ways to relieve stress).

As additional information, in this area it is super easy for a character to catch us the odd Disease (both by Curios and by enemies that apply them), keep this in mind. Anyway, this is a summary, let’s go with the guide in depth!

    RECOMMENDED CHARACTERS FOR THE LABYRINTH

    Jester in Darkest Dungeon

The recommended characters are similar to the ones I recommended for the Forest , since in the Labyrinth the enemies also generally have low resistance to Bleeding and high resistance to Infection. In addition, it is one of the areas where there are more enemies that reduce stress , so characters that can help us in this regard have a high value.

    • Diabla : The character with the highest value for position 1 for her tremendous damage to all positions and her application of Bleed.
      • Leper : As always, it’s a good alternative to Diabla. It has no Bleed and cannot damage all positions. But it deletes enemies from the first positions and can self-heal health and stress.
    • Canine Master : Very effective since there is a large presence of “beast” enemies in the Foresta. He also has Bleed (light ones, mind you), deals damage to all positions, a very good stun and can self-heal and give some support to the group if necessary. The most recommended for position 2.
      • Bounty Hunter : Very good alternative for the Canine Master since there are also quite a few humans in this area. It also deals damage to all positions, but has no Bleed.
      • Bandolero : A Bandolero is never superfluous, he is one of the best characters in the game for having tremendous performance in any area. Good damage to all positions, good mobility, and his counter is just fantastic.
    • Jester : The absolute king in this zone because of his good buffs, his tremendous Bleeds and because his ability to reduce stress is priceless in this zone. This character is good in any zone, but this is HIS ZONE of him.
    • Arbalester/Musketeer : Character that comes in handy in all areas due to its good ranged damage.
    • Vestal / Occultist : As I always say, this is your choice. The Vestal heals more safely, the Occultist is riskier, but the good damage from him comes in handy.

    Highly recommended sample equipment:

    1. devil/leper
    2. Canine Master/Man-at-Arms
    3. Jester.
    4. Vestal/Occultist (if you have the Occultist it is better to put him in position 3 and put the jester in 4 for full support).

Also mention that it is not such a bad idea to take a Plague Doctor or a Grave Raider with you, especially since they can cure illnesses while camping and this is something that is very valuable in this area. Anyway, I don’t really recommend them because in battle they wouldn’t be as useful as the previously mentioned characters since both of them depend a lot on the Infection to have a good role.

    RECOMMENDED PROVISIONS

These are the provisions that I recommend the most, you know that this is indicative in the end, the expeditions have a high random component.

    • Meal:
      • Short: 6.
      • Medium: 10.
      • Long: 14.
      • Note: Since it is very common to find Curios that give food (especially if you have Medicinal Herbs) you could take even less food , but I like to take more just in case, you never know.
    • torches:
      • Short: 8
      • Medium: 12
      • Long: 16

Then also consider taking the following:

    • 2x-4x Shovels : In case we find walls on the way, which in the Foresta are very common. We can also use it on some Curios for more loot.
    • 2-4x Medicinal Herbs : They are used in many Curios in the area and we can obtain food with them in addition to other things.
    • 1-2x Holy Water : We should always carry some in case an Eldritch Altar appears to remove a Negative Trait. This is more than anything, there aren’t that many useful Curios for this item in this area.
    • 1x Skeleton Key : In case a chest appears.

Also consider taking some Bandages overcoat to better deal with Bleeding and in case you see the Swordbearer Curio. Some Antidote does not hurt either since there are some enemies that apply Infection.

    CURIOS EXCLUSIVE TO THE LABYRINTH

Let’s see the entire list and my recommendations. I also link you to the post of the Common Curios (those that appear in all areas), below we continue with those of the Labyrinth.

    BONE ALTAR

    • Without using an item: Buff +15% Damage, +10 Accuracy and 5% Critical until encamped.

A tremendous buff for one of your characters, preferably interacting with one that does very good Damage like Diabla or Bandolero . Since the buff is lost when camping, you should ideally first camp and then interact with it.

    MOON BARREL

    • Without using object:
      • 33.3%: Food x1 + Gold/Provisions x1.
      • 33.3%: Infection.
      • 22.2%: Nothing.
      • 11.1%: Negative Trait “Drunk” (the character will only want to go drink at the bar to relieve stress)
    • Using Medicinal Herbs: Buff +30% Damage until camping.

Another tremendous buff that we lose when camping, so again I insist on camping first and then interacting with it; especially relevant if you are going against a boss.

If you have run out of food, the truth is that I would risk it and interact with it since if the Infection comes to us it does not matter a little (a little Damage, without more, unless your equipment is in very bad condition , of course) and the Drunk Trait is one of those that doesn’t really affect that much (I don’t even treat these types of Traits, at most if I can remove some Trait with a Curio and my other characters don’t have more important Traits to remove).

    CADAVERIC CART

    • Without using object:
      • 37.5%: Food + Gold/Trinkets x1.
      • 25%: Infection.
      • 25%: Nothing.
      • 12.5%: Disease «Black Death» (-75% resistance to Infection, -75% resistance to Disease, -10% Health and -4 Speed).
    • Using Medicinal Herbs: Food x3 + Gold/Trinkets x1.

You should only interact with him if you have Medicinal Herbs, it’s a good way to get food .

    HIDDEN DOODLES

    • Without using object:
      • 33.3%: Random Positive Trait.
      • 25%: +25 stress.
      • 25%: Nothing.
      • 16.7%: Random Negative Trait.
    • Using Holy Water: Debuff -20% Evasion.

Don’t even doubt it, skip it .

    IMPROMPTU DINNER TABLE

    • Without using object:
      • 25%: Food x1 + Gold/Provisions x1.
      • 25%: “Tapeworm” disease (+100% of Food consumed and occasionally the character will interact with Food Curios).
      • 25%: Infection.
      • 25%: Nothing.
    • Using Medicinal Herbs: Food x2 + Gold/Supply x1.

Another Curio in which we can use the Medicinal Herbs to obtain food. Never interact with him if it is not with the Medicinal Herbs, nor do it if you have leftover food.

    SACRIFICIAL STONE

    • Without using object:
      • 50%: +50 stress.
      • 25%: Remove Negative Trait.
      • 12.5%: Labyrinth Explorer Positive Trait (+10% Labyrinth Patrol).
      • 12.5%: Labyrinth Parasite Positive Trait (+5% Labyrinth Patrol)

Removing a Negative Trait is tempting, but skip it.

    PILE OF BONES

    • Without using object:
      • 25%: Any Loot x2.
      • 25%: Random disease.
      • 25%: Negative Trait “Bloodthirsty” (the character will interact on their own with some of the Curios that are “ghoulish”).
      • 25%: Nothing.
    • Using Holy Water: Any Loot x2.

Only recommended if you use a Holy Water, anyway make sure you always keep at least one in case you come across an Eldritch Altar , since if we use Holy Water there we can eliminate a Negative Trait from a character.

    PILE OF SCROLLS

    • Without using object:
      • 28.6%: Activate the patrol.
      • 28.6%: Nothing.
      • 14.3%: +15 stress.
      • 14.3%: Journal entry.
      • 9.5%: Random Positive Trait.
      • 4.8%: Random Negative Trait.
    • Using Torch: Remove a Negative Trait.

Not many come out, but it is one of the best Curios in the area. Interact with the Torch (if for whatever reason you are too short of them, then directly pass him) to remove a Negative Trait from one of your characters (the one you interact with, of course).

    SWORD-HOLDER

    • Without using object:
      • 40%: Gold/Gems x1 + Food x1
      • 40%: Hemorrhage.
      • 20%: Nothing.
    • Using Bandages: Gold/Gems x2 + Food x1

If you have some Bandages left over, hit him, if you don’t have Bandages I would interact with him anyway since the worst that can happen is that you get a Bleed.

    LABYRINTH BOSSES

To finish I leave you a link to the guide of the two bosses of the Labyrinth:

    • Boss Pig
    • Body
