Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed – Ghostbusters tips

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is an asymmetric co-op shooter from the film franchise of the same name. As a ghost hunter it is your job to capture the restless souls of the bereaved and imprison them forever. In this guide you will learn:

  • What to watch out for when ghost hunting
  • What strategies do you need to follow?
  • What other tips will help you?

Coordinate your attack

Since Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is intended to be a multiplayer experience, you will only succeed as a team . A coordinated approach is therefore of the utmost importance.

This starts with the use of the PKE meter . The useful tool not only detects the hiding places of the spirits and their dimension rifts, but can also stun your opponents for a short time, drive them out of possessed objects and people or make them vulnerable for a few seconds.

The downside is that switching between the PKE meter and the proton pack takes a while – and by then the ghost has usually fled. Therefore, you should see that one person tracks down the ghost and another has the gun loaded.

It is therefore advisable to go on the search in teams of two people each . Ideally, you share the tasks: one team looks for the ghost, the other team the rifts – because your opponent respawns there after you have caught him.

Share the Fang Ray

Crossing the streams was, in theory, a very stupid idea in the first Ghostbusters film – even if it ended up killing Gozer the Gozerian. In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed you can’t avoid this method.

This is because the player who catches the ghost first with their proton pack is also the one who directs the movement to the trap. Unfortunately, the weapons have the disadvantage that they quickly overheat and then fail for a short time.

In order to prevent the ghost from fleeing again, players must take turns discarding the adversary. This works when another ghost hunter throws his laser beams at the ghost with a time delay.

As a result, however, another player now determines in which direction the prisoner goes. Clear communication is needed as to who is now taking over the ray and to whom the trap must be thrown. If you don’t do this, you run the risk that all the devices will overheat and the ghost can disappear again.

Don’t forget where your equipment wagon is

Sounds banal, but it’s not: The location of your equipment wagon is important! Here you’ll find more items and, more importantly, new traps and secondary gadgets. So always keep in mind where the supplies are. Otherwise you will lose valuable time searching.

Finally, ghosts have the ability to destroy your traps. The only option for the ghost hunters is to get appropriate supplies. This becomes a real problem, especially on the larger maps, since the enemy has enough time to drive away civilians or do other practical jokes.

Another big reason for the location is the secondary items you can find there. You always have the opportunity to upgrade and adapt to the spirit’s playing style. Take this chance.

Calm down the NPCs

Ghosts only have one job: they have to haunt a place. Therefore, it is also their job to frighten civilians and drive them to flee. As a trained ghost hunter with strong nerves, it’s your job to calm them down. Once the building’s owners and employees vacate the field, the spirit has won.

To prevent this, you have to make them understand that everything is fine. Talk to a fleeing NPC and trigger the activated quicktime event to better protect them against future scares.

You can give this type of shield to the civilians even before they’ve become skittish. Just speak up and make sure you’re in the green area by the spinning wheel – that way the ghost has a much harder time from the start.

Collects experience points

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed works with experience points that allow you to level up your ghost hunter and especially items or unlock new items.

You get the most experience points after completing a match. Depending on whether you were victorious and how well you did in the ghost hunt, there are sometimes more or less XP.

Another lucrative source of income from experience points are the daily quests and side quests. The latter work like a kind of contract that you enter into and therefore have to achieve certain goals. Since only one side quest can be active at a time, you should think carefully about which one you want to tackle. Quests go through multiple stages before they are considered complete. In return, massive experience points beckon for your ghost hunter.

You should also collect spore, mold and fungus samples . They’re easy to miss on a map, but will give you a one-time bonus of 10,000 experience points if you’ve picked up enough in your collection. It’s definitely worth it for that.
