Genshin Impact – All About the Dendro Element

With the release of 3.0 and the Sumeru region, a new element is offered to us in Genshin Impact: the Dendro. But how does it work exactly? What combinations of elements can we make and what is it for?

We have already had a small preview of this element thanks to certain enemies such as the iconic Brutoshamans or the Blobs. As usual, our Traveler will be able to appropriate this element, and we will meet new companions with Dendro powers.

Reactions with the Dendro element

Only the Pyro Electro and Hydro elements will be able to react with the Dendro. These associations are respectively called Burning Catalysis and Flowering

In addition to these three elementary reactions, other more advanced combinations are possible. They are four in number: Budding Exuberance Overactivation and Propagation .

No less than seven different reactions are therefore available with this new element.

Because images sometimes speak louder than words, here is a small diagram explaining how Dendro reactions work :

Let’s now take a closer look at the description of these combinations…

Flowering

Flowering consists of the alliance of the Dendro and Hydro elements and brings out a Dendro Core .

A maximum of five Dendro Cores can be present on the field at any one time. If the limit of Dendro Cores is reached and a new Core is spawned, or if their deployment time is nearing its end, they explode dealing Dendro damage

This damage can be increased through Elemental Mastery. Also note that it is the character who creates the Dendro Core that influences the damage of its explosion.

budding

Budding corresponds to the reaction between a Dendro Nucleus and the Pyro element . This will cause the Dendro Core to explode, dealing area Dendro damage

The character originating the Pyro element will affect the damage done by Burgeoning through their Elemental Mastery stat.

Exuberance

Exuberance occurs when a Dendro Core comes into contact with the Electro element . This reaction creates sprawling shots, self-guided projectiles that deal Dendro damage

As with Burgeoning, it is the character at the origin of the Electro element that will influence the damage caused by Exuberance, thanks to its elemental mastery stat.

Catalysis

Catalysis occurs when the Dendro and Electro elements come into contact. This combination causes the Stimulation state , characterized by a green aura around the enemy.

To reset the duration of Stimulation, it will be necessary to apply the Dendro and Electro elements to the target again.

Overactivation

The Overactivate elemental reaction triggers when a target affected by Boost takes Electro damage .

The Electro attack that hits the target will deal increased Electro damage

The power of this attack can be increased further: the damage will depend on the elemental mastery of the Electro character who inflicted the damage.

Spread

Spread works similarly to Surge. This reaction triggers when a target affected by Stimulation takes Dendro damage .

The Dendro attack that hits the target will deal increased Dendro damage

The power of this attack can be increased through the elemental mastery of the Dendro character causing the damage.

Burn

We already know the Burn reaction well (because yes, we all died at least once like that ?).

This combination occurs when a target with a Dendro or Pyro aura comes into contact with the Pyro or Dendro elements respectively. It inflicts periodic Pyro damage .

Pyro damage from Burn will be influenced by the character’s Elemental Mastery stat that triggers the reaction.

Burning can be reset indefinitely by applying Dendro damage again.

The Dendro Resonance

Elemental Resonance consists of different buffs available depending on your team composition. With the emergence of the Dendro element , a new resonance is offered to us!

To activate the Dendro resonance, your team must contain at least two Dendro characters

Creeper: Increases Elemental Mastery by 50. After triggering a Burn, Stimulate, or Blossom reaction, the Elemental Mastery of all nearby team characters increases by 30 points for 6 seconds. After triggering an Overactivate, Spread, Exuberance, or Burgeoning reaction, the Elemental Mastery of all nearby team characters increases by 20 points for 6 seconds. The duration of these effects is calculated independently.

Unlock Traveler Dendro

Who says new region, also says new element available for our main hero!

To unlock the Traveler or Voyager Dendro , all you have to do is make him part of your team and go to any statue of the Archon Dendro in Sumeru

Select your Traveler, then click on the statue and choose the “Enter Resonance” option to endow your character with the Dendro element.

If you don’t have any other Dendro characters, he’ll come in handy to solve some Sumeru puzzles .

Now you know all about the Dendro element and its various uses!

With the arrival of the first characters Dendro Tighnari and Collei, do you want to test these reactions? Or will you take advantage of your Traveler’s new Dendro powers while you wait for the Archon Dendro and Alhaitam?
