Björn is the first boss we will have to face in God of War: Ragnarök , a huge and powerful bear with a certain surprise that you will discover when you defeat him (I won’t make spoilers, don’t worry) that he will attack Kratos without any kind of mercy (you see your what a bear is for Kratos).
As the first boss of the game that it is, it is quite simple; We could say that it is a tutorial boss so that you get an idea of more or less what you will find later on. To defeat him in the optimal way we will have to master the mechanics of red attacks and yellow attacks very well that I will explain to you in this post between which we comment on all the attacks of this bear.
HOW TO DEFEAT BJORN IN GOD OF WAR: RAGNARÖK
We will start by looking at his entire kit of movements and by the way I will explain the best way to dodge each of his attacks and of course also how to damage him and counterattack depending on what he is doing. After this we will see a series of tips that can also be helpful to defeat him, the usual format that we follow in this blog, come on.
ATTACK GUIDE
These are Björn’s attacks:
- Triple Claw (yellow) : Björn will hit us 3 times with his claws, the first two blows are normal and therefore his would be that you have the shield up to block his damage. The third is a yellow attack, so you’ll have to parry it with your shield (block just at the moment it’s going to hit us with the yellow blow), after this the bear will be a bit out of place and you can take advantage of it to hit it. a good combo of blows. You should always try to parry the yellow attacks as they break your guard if you don’t, in case you go wrong and block as normal, be prepared to quickly dodge as soon as Kratos recovers to avoid the attacks. subsequent attacks that the bear will launch.
- Bear Grab (yellow) : Harder to predict, but luckily it doesn’t do much. It will deal a single yellow hit and therefore it is easy to catch us off guard; you know, parry him and after that you hit him as much as you can.
- Bear Charge (red) : He usually does it when he is a bit far away, you will see that the red circle will appear on the ground, and immediately afterwards he will launch a charge towards us that we must dodge. Why don’t we block or parry ? Well, because the red attacks are absolutely unblockable and therefore we will have to dodge them yes or yes.
- Ground Slam (Red) : His other red attack will get on two legs and slam the ground dealing damage in a fairly large area. You will have to dodge backwards to get away from the impact area, your thing is that you press the “X” button 2 times in a row to perform a dodge with which you move much more. Be careful because when the battle is more advanced you can do this attack 3 times in a row, so after dodging the first one never trust that 2 more could come as a tip.
For the rest, it is always to keep your guard up except when he is very far away, there it does not matter much because you lose mobility, and be careful to parry his yellow attacks and dodge the red ones (and the long back dodge for the attack on the that hits the ground) while we are hitting everything we can. Be careful when his life is low because he will start to combine red and yellow attacks in a crazy way, but luckily you will already have him about to die.
In one of the button pressing cinematics, we will activate Kratos’ “sucker mode” , there it is simply pressing buttons to cause him a lot of damage. All our blows will stun him and therefore we can attack him at will; for a time only and only this time in the entire battle, of course.
BATTLE TIPS
As added advice, tell you that when he is far away it is a good idea to hit him with the ranged attacks of the Ax (throwing it and then making it come back and such) and remember that even if you do not have the Ax in hand, what you will always have in your possession is the shield, so don’t worry if the bear approaches you that you won’t be exposed defensively due to the fact that you don’t have the Ax in hand yet.
You can also hold down the triangle to charge the weapon and cause more damage with the next attack you hit (also ideal when it is far away), but it was much better for me to throw the Ax at it than this, so it is what I recommend .
