We will soon set foot in the lands of the Scarlet King or King Deshret. Yes, the one the Eremites talk about! They are the loyal fanatics of the King. According to them, he would be back soon; ready to take revenge on the Academy they say. They are of the opinion that the Archon betrayed their King in the past… For it seems that the Goddess, by becoming the Archon, made the Scarlet King disappear.
Here is the brief history of the three divine kings of Sumeru:
King Deshret was friends with the Molrani Rukkhadevata, and the Flower Goddess he was in love with. Both have built a haven of peace named Kingdom of Ay-Khanoum, which means “City of the Virgin of the Moon”. After the death of his Goddess, the King went mad and wanted to design a utopia for his people… While the Molrani Rukkhadevata created an oasis in the desert. ”
For the moment, we don’t know more… What more will we learn during the next quests of Archon?

Geography
Hidden behind its immense jungle, these landscapes have nothing to envy to the rest of Teyvat. A vast, spectacular and technological world awaits you!
To the west of Sumeru, the desert is known as the Great Scarlet Desert. Vegetation is scarce, but some species manage to proliferate such as ajilenakh nuts and quandong (cactus flower) that you can pick up.
Your journey will begin at the village of Aaru. This village is the largest settlement in the desert. It is a solid fortress located between the mountains which constitutes a haven of peace within this hostile environment.
Hidden in the sand, you will find oases full of life. The existence of such fertile land will arouse the curiosity of more than one!
Finally, among the magnificent landscapes of the desert, the grandiose Mausoleum of King Deshret, a masterpiece of technology culminating in the area, will hold many mysteries in store for you.
These vast landscapes may turn out to be more mysterious than they seem. Appearances can often be deceiving… You may come across mirages that dissipate as you get closer; some frescoes only show their face at night while transparent and impenetrable walls will block your way.
Remnants of ancient civilizations and King Deshret still linger in the desert waiting to be discovered. Explore the ruins and basements of the Great Scarlet Desert; you will find many strange mechanics and tempting rewards.
Fauna:
So here we are in the desert, and who says new environment, also says other enemies, monsters, animals, and bosses!
Here is a taste of those you will meet on your way!
Animals :
If you’ve ever encountered a crocodile or beast of burden in Sumeru’s jungle, you won’t be surprised to find one in a different form in its desert!
Because yes! They have adapted to this sandy climate and have therefore changed in appearance!
And this is also the case for foxes! You will surely come across them lying on the fine sand, waiting for the coolness of the night.
When you wander through these lands, you will see something sticking out of the sand… And no, it’s not a crab! It’s a scorpio!
But that’s not all ! You will also see vultures flying near you ready to scavenge food scraps!
Enemies, monsters and bosses:
The enemies will be just as present and much more dangerous!
First of all, you need to know that there will be more Eremite! It is their territory after all! If only that…
The gritty enchanter and the stale hunter will hunt you down! If you manage to push them to their limits, they will then release their last card! The sinister spirit living in them will come to help them, it is the demonic form of the Eremites!
These little mechanical pyramids that we saw in previous trailers now have a name: “Primal Structure” and have three distinct shapes! The prospector, the repeller and the remodeler. Maybe their name is a clue to their functionality?
Primal structures have a leader. This is a boss named “Neo-Lattice Observation Matrix Semi-Intransition Algorithm”. From their names, the primal structures and their boss seem to have been designed by a talented engineer. This is lost technology…
And it’s certainly not the only mini-boss! The “Cataclysmic Dragon” is in the game. He strongly resembles an evolved ruin dragon! It is therefore almost certain that some of his attacks will be close to theirs!
Mechanisms
The arrival of a brand new area necessarily implies the presence of new mechanisms which we will make a quick presentation. Like the desert and its ruins, these mechanisms rely on beams of light, sand and of course mechanical systems.
Some mechanisms will not necessarily be immediately accessible and will require authorization in order to activate them, which you will obtain as you progress.
plinths of rites
In the ruins, these control units will allow you, by interacting with them, to deactivate certain obstacles such as doors.
Primal Embers
You will need Primal Embers to activate Primal Torches.
Attention, the primal embers are very fragile and can be destroyed if there is a gust of wind a little too strong, or an obstacle on the road! So be careful when guiding him to the torches.
Some wind currents can be disabled while others stop temporarily, but you can also use primal candlesticks to help you along the way.
Transmission of rays in the ruins
You can also transmit beams in the ruins by connecting them using the steles below. The trajectory of certain rays could be obstructed by walls but, by using cells of imperceptibility you can make them disappear to facilitate their path.
Truthfulness Cells
You will also come across obscured objects. To make them return to their initial state: use the truthfulness cells.
Primal Hourglass
When you come across a giant hourglass and activate it, you’ll need to rotate the surrounding primal hourglasses before the sand in the giant hourglass crumbles completely.
Crafting Ruins Mechanisms
You will be able to pick up Cones of Primal Light and drop them into the Replicator Stones. Thus, you will create mechanisms of the ruins in order to advance in your exploration of the ruins.
Primal Obelisks
Remains of the civilization built by King Deshret, the obelisks may be found with missing sacred seals that you will need to find and affix. You can use the residual power of the obelisks to have indications on the location of the seals.
New Characters
The update also brings us many new characters. If they will benefit from a more detailed description in the future, here is a little one now!
Cino
Lancer Electro whose visual we have had for more than two years, Cyno is finally coming into play! Roam the desert with General Mahamatra of the Academy and decimate your enemies with his help.
The character and his skills are reminiscent of Egyptian culture and his gameplay allows him to inflict great damage while on the ground. He therefore has a role of DPS.
His rampage will infuse his attacks into Electro through a transformation. You can extend the duration of this transformation thanks to the skill, which can be used very quickly to inflict significant damage.
Candace
Protector of the Aaru village, Candace arrives with her spear… and her shield!
His skills will allow you to use both of these pieces of equipment in magnificent Hydro combos.
His skill, similar to Yun Jin ‘s , allows you to parry enemy attacks and charges over time to finish on a Hydro area attack. Its unleash inflicts heavy Hydro damage and will allow you to infuse normal attacks with Hydro (only for melee weapons), which unlocks new combos!
His kit is centered on support, so you can use the character as such.
nilou
The famous Sumeru dancer is also announced. Charm your enemies with its graceful movements to better eliminate them!
Her abilities are dance moves that allow her to attack enemies with her one-handed sword. The skill deals Hydro damage which you can modify by pressing the skill or normal attack. The unleash triggers an area of Hydro damage, shaped like a beautiful blue Lotus.
In addition, Nilou brings a new mechanic to the game: the modification of existing elemental reactions. With this gameplay, she will focus her abilities on Bloom’s reaction. He will only need Dendro and Hydro teammates to allow him to create modified seeds more powerful than the original ones.
Being the first of its kind, we don’t really know what to expect but it arouses curiosity!
The final word !
Here we are at the end of this article! You will therefore have noticed: the Sumeru desert has as many surprises in store for us as its jungle!
With its new panoramas, its fauna, its mechanisms or even the new companions that you can obtain, you will not be left out!
