PIG IN MINECRAFT: DOMESTICATION, WHAT IT EATS AND BREEDING

PIG IN MINECRAFT: DOMESTICATION WHAT IT EATS AND BREEDING

Pigs are one of the most common peaceful creatures to see in Minecraft and the truth is that their model is quite successful and quite cool, whoever says otherwise is lying.

That is why today I bring you a complete guide on it in which I will tell you basically everything you need to know about them. You know, the typical stuff: what they eat, how you can reproduce and breed them, trivia about them that you probably don’t know (at least not all of them), what they drop when you beat them… that sort of thing. So nothing, without further delay, here we go!

LOCATION: HOW TO FIND PIGS AND PIGLETS IN MINECRAFT

The hard part is not finding them, but I’ll tell you:

These are generated in the vast majority of biomes as long as there are Grass Blocks (at least 2 together) in them. They can appear both when creating the world and randomly and fulfilling the conditions (the aforementioned and also that the light level is high) when the world is already active.

A Piglet (a Baby Pig) can also appear with a 5% chance (come on, there is a 95% chance that it will be an adult Pig, like Marz; and a 5% chance that it will be a Baby Pig). In the same way mention that these can also be generated in the Villages of Villagers.

CAN PIGS BE DOMESTICATED?

Domesticate as such no, since at least I consider that for an animal to be domesticated it has to have the typical orders to stay put and continue as it happens for example with cats and dogs, but you can calmly take them home since they are peaceful and put them in a fenced area so they don’t escape.

Attracting them is extremely simple since it will be enough to have a Carrot in your hand (and other objects, we will mention all of them below in the feeding section) and they will begin to follow you like crazy. You can also use a Cane with Carrot, it’s the same, but it’s funnier that way.

And by the way, I will soon upload a post on how to create a house for your Pigs, as soon as I have it I will link it here (the house is already created, the post needs to be done).

FEEDING, REPRODUCTION AND UPBRINGING

Let’s start with food. The Pig can eat these foods, which few seem to me in the case of a Pig, but well… these are:

  • potatoes .
  • Beetroot.
  • Carrot.

To reproduce them we need 2 Pigs and it will be enough to feed them with one of the above mentioned foods . After this little hearts and others will come out and an adorable Piglet will end up appearing; keep in mind that the Pigs themselves will not be able to reproduce until about 5 minutes have passed, they have to rest.

The Piglet will take some time to become an adult (more or less 20 minutes), but this process can be accelerated if we feed it; It is the best way to get adult Pigs quickly.

WHAT IS THE PORK FOR?

This is what pigs can provide us:

PORK CHOPS

When they kill them they give Pork Chops, but the truth is that it seems to me to be a pretty bad food source since the process also consumes food and therefore it is not very optimal; Also, it sucks to do it.

The Cooked Pork Chop (which can be obtained by cooking the Chop yourself or killing it with fire) will restore 8 hunger points.

PIG MOUNT

Pig on Mount in Minecraft

Newe with a tremendous skin using a pig as a mount on the Korosenai mine server.

We can use a Pig as a Mount if we put the same; the truth is that as a Mount it is quite lousy since it is very slow and on top of that we need the Rod with Carrot (recipe above) for it to move. Of course, cool… well, it’s very cool .

And in case you don’t know how to get the Mount:

  • Buying it from Villagers.
  • in chests
  • By killing an animal that carries it.
  • Fishing, but it is very rare that it appears (0.9%).

CURIOSITIES

And to finish a few curiosities about the Pigs:

  • The Pig is the first peaceful creature Notch created.
  • The Creeper appeared as a result of a bug in the pig’s programming that made the pig very tall and skinny. Notch liked the being that arose from said error and thus created the Creeper.
  • It doesn’t make any sense, but these can climb up ladders. In the same way you can do it when you use a Pig as a Mount.
  • If you use a Pig as a Mount you will be able to pass through spaces one block high.
  • If you create an empty Generator using commands in the Java version, you will see a Pig appear inside it as if it were a Pig Generator.
  • If a Pig is struck by lightning it will turn into a Zombie Pig. The same thing happens with the piglets.
