Medieval Dynasty: Construct houses & buildings – this is how it works

In Medieval Dynasty you build your own village in a peaceful valley. Your character Racimir likes that, because he fled to the valley before the war. However, you first need a roof over your head, because what would a mayor be without his own house? In this guide to buildings in Medieval Dynasty you will learn:

  • What buildings are there
  • How you build them
  • Which order makes sense when building

Best location in Medieval Dynasty: where to build the first house

You lay the foundation for your medieval city with your first house in Medieval Dynasty. First, go to the nearby town of Gostovia and speak with Castellan Uniegost to start the main quest . He will give you a piece of land on which you can build a new life. Now it’s up to you to find a suitable location. You should pay attention to the following things:

Water is the elixir of life

Since there were no water pipes in the Middle Ages, your first accommodation should be near a river or lake . In order to survive, you (and your later inhabitants) must drink regularly. You can also build a fishery later in the game if there is a body of water nearby. This not only provides your villagers with enough water, but also with enough food.

Distances matter

Your village should be within walking distance so that you don’t have to be on the road for ages to trade with other villages . This also becomes important once you want to recruit villagers.

raw materials in sufficient quantity

At the same time, you need flat areas to create fields and erect new buildings. In addition, a densely overgrown forest should be nearby, because you need a lot of wood to expand your hut into a village.

Last but not least , if you want to construct more advanced buildings, you need a stone deposit in the area.

Which location do you recommend?

Especially if you are new to Medieval Dynasty, it is advisable to settle near the first village . Since you can find your way around here quickly, can pay taxes at Uniegost and there are several traders and a fire for recruiting villagers, you should stay close by.

If you open the map with the “M” key, you will see a lake to the east. The northwest shore is the perfect location for your first village. We have marked the best location for you on this map:

Tools are the be-all and end-all of Medieval Dynasty

Once you’ve arrived at the perfect spot for your house, you set about farming the resources to build it. For this you need a stone axe, which you can craft from sticks and stones. With this you can then cut down trees and get the tree trunks and sticks that you need for your house. You also need a wooden hammer , because you can only build buildings with it.

In the beginning your house consists of thin walls made of sticks. In order not to have to upgrade them later, you can also equip your house directly with wooden walls . To do this, you must have the mallet equipped and select one of the walls of your house. Then press the “E” key and select “Walls” and then the “Wooden Wall” from the menu that appears. Although these cost logs instead of sticks, they are also much more stable. Wooden houses are immensely important for the dwellings of your future villagers, as they increase satisfaction.

What buildings do I build after my first house?

When your house is built, you devote yourself to the quests and gathering of resources – this way you build up a solid base of materials and advance the story. Meanwhile, you should plan in advance where you want to build the other buildings of your settlement later. Houses should be placed as close together as possible. It helps if you imagine an imaginary village center. Or you can use a large rock or a single tree as a landmark.

You should also zoom out of your character when constructing buildings . This gives you a little more overview of where to put the building. In addition to the houses, you can also build production buildings in which your villagers can do their work. The most important buildings are:

  • Woodshed : You need it so that your villagers produce wood on their own. This is essential so that your village can continue to grow. Place the shed near trees.
  • Food storage : Here the name says it all. Since food can spoil in Medieval Dynasty and the food store slows down this process, you should build it as soon as possible. Looks great next to the barn and fields.
  • Barn : You urgently need a barn so that your villagers can grow crops for you and process them further. You should build them as soon as possible. Build them on a flat surface where you want to build the fields.
  • Hunting Lodge : Provide yourself not only with meat, but also with leather – this is essential for clothing, among other things. Build the hunter’s lodge a little off the beaten path, near the woods.
  • Material storage: This is where you store all non-perishable goods. Build it next to your village’s workshops and forges.

Later in the game you will need more buildings, such as the mine. Minerals needed for higher technologies are mined there. However, you have to reach this near a cave. A complete list of buildings can be found by opening the build menu with the “Q” key and selecting “Buildings” .

More buildings needed – the building limit

Especially at the beginning you should not overdo it with the buildings. In Medieval Dynasty, your settlement has a construction limit, i.e. a maximum number of buildings that you can construct at any one time. This number is tightly calculated at the beginning of the game: you can only build five buildings at the start.

So that you don’t run into a bottleneck, first focus on the basic needs of your villagers : places to sleep and food. Also, take care of the production of wood as quickly as possible. This not only saves you a lot of time, but also fulfills another need of the residents: firewood with which they can heat their houses.

good building order , with which we have optimally built our village:

First house > Second house > Food storage > Material storage > Lumberjack’s hut > Barn

Increase the build limit

In order for your village to grow, you must increase your building limit. This works with the help of the main missions . There you will get quests at various points in the story that increase the building limit. You can also increase the build limit in the game settings . However, you still have to complete the quests to unlock the maximum building slots.

Incidentally, fields do not count towards the building limit , so you can build as many of them as you want. This also unlocks more buildings.

Unlock buildings: How it works

Before you start building, you must first unlock the buildings in Medieval Dynasty. This works using the technology system , which bears a certain resemblance to the survival game’s level system: the more you work in a category, the better you become and the more buildings you unlock. There are the following categories and opportunities for improvement:

technology treeactivation options
construction technologyChop down trees, mine, dig for clay, construct buildings
survival techniqueHunting animals, setting traps, fishing
agricultural technologyPlowing and fertilizing the fields, sowing, harvesting crops, milking animals, shearing sheep
production technologyCrafting items, cooking

Once you’ve reached the tech level to construct a special building, all you have to do is buy the plan for face value and then build it straight away. Of course you need the right materials for this.

Tip : You can easily level up farming technology in particular – just keep building fields and then demolishing them again. For every field you build, you get points in the agricultural technology tree.
