The Sword of Dawn is a three-star weapon in Genshin Impact that stands out for having a secondary stat and Passive Ability that is on par with many five-star weapons.
It is a wonderful weapon that we can obtain very easily by pulling on any banner in the game, which makes it very easy to get it with its maximum refinement. In addition, we can also get it randomly by opening chests and there is even an NPC in Inazuma City called Nanako who gives us one when we talk to her.
The only downside to the Sword of Dawn is that it has a rickety Base Attack and therefore won’t be a very good option for characters like Ayaka or Keching ; however, it will be very useful for characters in which the Attack is not so relevant and its damage is deducted from another statistic.
ATTRIBUTES OF THE SWORD OF DAWN IN GENSHIN IMPACT
Let’s start by looking at its attributes:
- Base Attack Level 1: 38.
- Base Attack Level 90: 401.
Obviously, being a three-star weapon, its Base Attack is quite poor and it will be surpassed by any four-star weapon, no matter how low it is; but precisely for this reason we will equip it to characters that do not take advantage of this statistic as much.
- Critical Damage Level 1: 10.2%.
- Critical Damage Level 90: 46.86%.
Its substat frankly couldn’t be better, as it gives us 46.86% Critical Damage on a sword that is really easy to get. The saddest or best thing about this weapon is that it slightly exceeds the Critical Damage of the Reflection of Darkness (despite the fact that the latter is a five star).
The Passive Skill of the Sword of Dawn gives us the following bonus:
- The Critical Chance of the wielder of this sword will be increased by 14% (28% on R5) as long as their Health remains above 90%.
The problem with this Passive Ability is that we have to constantly maintain almost full health (since getting hit in most cases is already enough to get Health below 90%) or we will lose this bonus to Critical Chance; that is why it will be preferable to equip it to a character that has a Support DPS role that deals damage passively and hardly needs to spend time on the battlefield.
WHAT CHARACTER DO I PUT IT ON?
We will mainly look for characters that do not spend a lot of time on the battlefield so that they do not take damage and lose the Passive Ability bonus (or, failing that, have a powerful squire or a healer that heals a lot on a constant basis). and it will also be important that you scale the damage of your abilities with another attribute other than Attack.
Laila can generate shields constantly, since her Elemental Skill has the same duration as the waiting time and this means that we can always be protected by a shield and not suffer damage to lose the Critical Chance bonus that the Sword gives us of the dawn
Also, due to his Support DPS role and the speed at which his abilities can be played he won’t have to spend a lot of time on the battlefield and we won’t have to worry about the possibility of losing the 28% Critical Chance bonus. .
Other than the initial hit from Cryo that is generated by building her shield, the rest of Laila’s major damage (i.e. her ult pulses and the shooting stars that her shield generates) is deducted from her Health, not her Attack. So we can enjoy the advantages offered by this very F2P sword without worrying about the lack of Base Attack that it has.
In the case of Albedo , only the explosions of her Elemental Skill are deducted from her Defense (since the ult begins to scale its Defense damage when it reaches its C2, which is when it begins to do relevant damage), but since that is where most of Albedo’s damage is deducted from, the low Base Attack that this sword will provide us will not be a problem for us.
As with Laila, Albedo has a Support DPS role and spends little time on the battlefield (which will make it difficult for her to take damage and lose the Critical Chance bonus); In addition, he usually goes in compositions with multiple Geo characters in which either there is a shield that covers the damage or many shields are generated through Elemental Crystallization Reactions that will protect us from taking damage.
In the event that you could not get the Cinnabar Spindle in the Dragonspine event in version 2.3 of the game, we can always put this magnificent F2P weapon on our Albedo (but if you already have the Cinnabar Spindle don’t bother, since this is much higher in Albedo).
Other characters but less recommended for the weapon:
- Nilou : With this weapon we can make Nilou achieve a fairly decent Critical Chance and Critical Damage ratio despite having the Chalice, Helmet and Crown with Life % of main stat. The problem that arises is that Bloom will deal constant damage to us and we will need to control the healing issue a lot so that it does not lose its Critical Chance when carrying this weapon.
- Kaeya : His Ultimate Ability is undoubtedly a good asset for Frozen or Melted teams and this sword will be a very good asset for him, since Kaeya only needs a few seconds to develop her role on the battlefield. The only bad thing is that the Attack is relevant to him, but it is a good weapon option if you do not want to invest a lot in him.
- Xingchiu : In his case, weapons like the Sword of Sacrifice are much better for him, but equally the bonuses that the Sword of Dawn can bring him can be very beneficial for him as Support DPS (especially for the early game), since the Chance Critical and Critical Damage will be great for us to improve the damage of his ult and have a good probability ratio.
