HOW TO GROW POTATOES IN MINECRAFT

HOW TO GROW POTATOES IN MINECRAFT

We continue with the Minecraft crops , this time with another very popular crop among players such as Potatoes , these being very similar to Carrots with some small discrepancies that of course I will clarify in this post.

The objective of this post is to give you absolutely all the information regarding the Potato in Minecraft. Things like how you can get them, how they are planted in detail, their growth, what you can use them for and in this case we will also talk about Poisonous Potatoes, a version of the Potato that, as its name indicates, you should not eat. Let’s go there!

HOW TO FIND POTATOES IN MINECRAFT

The same thing that we discussed in the post about the Carrot , the only more or less complicated thing is to find the first one because once you have one when you plant it you will get more and you will end up having lots of them. In addition, the methods to obtain them are again the same as in the case of Carrots:

  • Zombie Drop : Both Common Zombies, Mummified Zombies and even Zombie Villagers have a small chance of dropping a Potato when killed by a player. It is important that it is the player who kills the mob in question to obtain the loot, if for example they die of natural causes, this will not be the case (they can also give you the loot if a dog you have tamed kills it).
  • Villages : The Villages are fantastic since they are a great method of getting crops in the easiest way since these often have their own little gardens and if you take the crops they won’t get mad at you or anything. Among the possible crops that they can have, there are of course Potatoes, but you can also find others such as Carrots or Wheat.

HOW TO GROW POTATOES

Potato Growth Phases in Minecraft

As always, the first thing will be to create our garden , which I leave you with a link since I already made a guide on this topic. Once again we are facing a case in which there are no seeds to plant as occurs with Watermelons and Pumpkins , we have to plant the Potato directly .

The process itself is very simple, simply with the Potato in hand you interact with the soil of your Garden (it has to be hydrated, which is when it turns dark brown) and that’s it. Its growth phases are 4 and you can see them in the photo above; You’ll have to wait (leave them to their own devices and you go about your business) until they reach the last phase (the one on the far right) and when they arrive, you collect them by hitting them with your hand. You can get between 1 and 5 potatoes each time you do it, with 3 being the most common and the average.

POISONOUS POTATOES

We cannot forget about Poisonous Potatoes as these are a quite unusual variant of the Potato and as we have already made their name clear… they are poisonous and therefore you should not eat them .

These can appear when collecting potatoes, for each Potato that appears there is a 2% chance that it will be a Poisonous Potato. Are these useful for anything? Well, not really and therefore you can do without them, it is what it is. The only real purpose I can think of is to give them to someone for a troll, but come on, it won’t work because the name itself is quite revealing.

WHAT ANIMALS EAT POTATO?

For a change, the Pig can feed on the Potato to cure it and for it to reproduce with other Pigs if you want it to. And not only the Pig, you can also give Potatoes to the Villagers for the same purpose and they will accept them.

WHAT IS THE POTATO IN MINECRAFT FOR?

These are all the uses that you can give to the Potato, clarifying that its main function (to no one’s surprise) is food and in fact you can eat it raw even though it can be cooked, now let’s get to that.

Of course, a raw potato will satisfy our hunger very little and therefore they are not worth much. Specifically, we will fill 1 hunger point and we will obtain o.6 of hunger Saturation if we exceed the maximum hunger threshold.

BAKED POTATO

The Cooked Potato (which is actually roasted, not cooked, but hey, Minecraft stuff I guess) is a much better option in terms of food as it restores 5 hunger points and adds 6 hunger saturation points.

Creating them is as simple as putting the Potatoes in the oven with fuel and waiting for them to cook.

RABBIT STEW

A more elaborate meal that we also mentioned in the Carrot post since this is also one of the ingredients to create it. I’m not going to expand too much since I already investigated a little more about this recipe when I talked about the Carrot. I leave you here the recipe and ingredients and that’s it.

And that’s it! Did you know everything about Potatoes in Minecraft ? Do you get Poisonous Potatoes often? How about this tuber as an in-game power source? Leave your comment!
