HOW TO GET HONEY AND HONEYCOMB WITHOUT DISTURBING BEES IN MINECRAFT

HOW TO GET HONEY AND HONEYCOMB WITHOUT DISTURBING BEES IN MINECRAFT

Bees are one of the entities that I like the most in Minecraft and the truth is that they are quite useful and interesting insects that you should never attack because unless you bother them (we will go into more detail), they are very peaceful and they can bring us honey and improvements for our crops.

The problem, as you probably know, is that if you try to collect honey they get mad as they think you are attacking their hive and apart from the fact that it is horrible that they are attacking you… that also implies that they will die (because if they sting you once you will die after a few seconds and we don’t want that to happen).

So nothing, let’s go with the subject and by the way we will go into depth regarding the Bees and the Honey.

HOW TO FIND A BEEHIVE OR MAKE AN APIARY

Beehive and Apiary in Minecraft

On the left the Beehive, on the right the Apiary and behind Alexaso posing (on Korosenai’s Minecraft server).

The first step, of course, will be to find a Beehive or Bee Nest (it forms naturally) or we can also directly create an Apiary, which is an Artificial Beehive:

HIVE

Hives appear naturally when the biome is generated while simultaneously fulfilling the following conditions:

  • They can appear in Oaks and Birches.
  • They can appear in Plains, Blooming Forest, and Sunflower Plain biomes.

The probability of spawning if these conditions are met is 5%. If you plant one of these trees in one of these biomes, you could also grow a tree with a Hive, but in this case the probability is 2%.

You can pick up the block with your hands or with any tool, although the best is the Axe. The problem is that if you do it as it is… the bees will get angry and go to sting you. Below I will tell you a trick to not disturb them, but besides this, you can pick up the Hive with Silk Touch ; this will keep the bees inside the block and therefore when you add it to the ground (or wherever) the bees will still be inside and will be able to get out. Come on, 2×1 because you save yourself having to take bees there and also be attacked.

CREATE THE APIARY

To obtain an Apiary we need blocks of Wood (whatever it is) and Honeycomb (which I explain better how to obtain it below). The top and bottom rows are filled with Wood and the middle row with Honeycombs. Obviously we will also need a Crafting Table. I leave you a photo of the same:

This block fulfills exactly the same function as the Hive .

HOW TO COLLECT HONEY AND HONEYCOMB IN MINECRAFT

Now let’s see how we can collect both the Honey and the Honeycomb, don’t forget to continue reading below because there I will show you the trick to not disturb the bees in the process.

First of all, clarify that you can only collect these materials when you see that the Beehive or Apiary has honey sprouting , something that happens every so often and that when you collect its materials, it will return to its initial state.

HONEY

To get the Honey implement we must interact with the Beehive or Apiary with a Crystal Jar . Remember that the Bees will be pissed off unless you do what I’ll explain below. I leave you here the recipe for the Glass Jar in case you don’t know it.

HONEYCOMB

For the Honeycomb (remember that we need it to create the Apiary) the procedure is the same as with the Honey but we have to interact with the Scissors . Here is the recipe for these.

THE TRICK TO NOT DISTURB THE BEES

How not to Disturb Bees in Minecraft

Alexaso again safely collecting Honeycomb and Ninasa in the background distracting the bees with a flower.

Looking at a photo you will get an idea and we actually have a couple of tricks to collect the Honey or the Honeycomb without disturbing the bees.

  1. We can place a Bonfire (recipe below) under the Beehive or Apiary, the smoke from it will make the bees dizzy (in a good way, it’s like they “relax”, whoever understands understands) and this causes them not to get angry when you collect the Honey or Honeycomb. His thing is that it is right below because otherwise the bees could be damaged by the fire and you don’t want that.
  2. We can also distract the bees with flowers and move them away (much easier if a friendly player takes a flower with his hand) so they don’t find out what we’re doing and therefore don’t get angry with us (and they’re not as smart as to realize it when they return and see that things have been taken from them).

The first is really the most practical and therefore the one I recommend, but the second is there and maybe one day it will be good for you to know if you don’t have Bonfires at the time and you have a friend who can help you with that.

Ah, the Bonfire can be created with Coal ( Vegetable Charcoal works ), Sticks and Logs. I leave you here the exact recipe in case you remember how it was made or in case you have never made it:

And that’s it! Did you know all these facts about collecting Honey and Honeycombs in Minecraft ? What do you think of the tricks to not disturb the bees? Do you know any other way? Leave your comment!
