Stenvar does have partners in battle, but with Osvald’s area attacks the match will be very easy.

PREVIOUS TIPS
What I always comment on in all posts about Octopath Traveler 2 bosses because I think it’s important (although I feel like I’m repeating myself too much and there are still plenty of bosses left, I’m going to end up a bit tired of writing this recommendation). The case, it is important to follow the level recommendation that the game itself proposes, in this case level 18 , so if any of the characters that you will take to battle is below it, it would be yours to level it .
Apart from this I would recommend you to have the best equipment for your characters as possible, especially for Osvald’s riding.
WEAKNESSES OF STENVAR AND HIS SOLDIERS
Let’s start with Stenvar’s weaknesses:
- Sword
- Lance
- Bow

- Darkness
Now the weaknesses of his two soldiers:
- Axe
- Bow
- Fire
- Wind
Stenvar has the typical mechanic of blocking his weaknesses, in this case he uses it while his two soldiers are alive, so you will have to deal with them first and then focus on the boss.
RECOMMENDED CHARACTERS
These are the characters that I recommend for this battle:
- Hikari : You should always carry it with you for being the best physical DPS . His Spear and Sword attacks will be very useful against Stenvar, although it is true that in front of the soldiers we will lose a lot of strength. In any case, this time his role will be above all that of Tanking ; below I explain better.
- Agnea : To go boosting our group. I recommend you take a look at La’Mani ‘s post since there I will tell you how you can seduce a girl that will make it so that when we use a buff we will also recover the target’s PH so that you can spam abilities at will.
- Osvald : For its enormous damage in the area or on a single enemy if you use its potential. We will use «Fireball» to annihilate his soldiers and after this we can focus on Stenvar, but we must attack him with «Lightning».
- Temenos : To go healing the group, especially Hikari since he will eat almost all the damage. When the party is good you can use “Fireball” if the soldiers are still alive or “Lightning” to hit Stenvar. The impulse points I recommend that you save them for the cures, that sometimes Hikari will receive a lot of damage.
STRATEGY TO DEFEAT HIM
First of all keep in mind that we will need Hikari to tank in this battle since otherwise we will be constantly being killed by characters. You need to use the Incite ability (that will make the single attacks always come towards you for 3 turns) and I like to combine it with Vengeful Blade so that I can hit enemies with a counter attack when taking damage (which also reduces the shield, so it comes great). It is vital that you keep the “Incite” active, Temenos will need to take care of it in the process.
The first thing will be to quickly defeat Stenvar’s soldiers in order to unlock all his weaknesses. His thing would be that you hit Stenvar with Hikari while with Osvald you hit them with “Fireball” (because it is area damage and such). Remember to buff Osvald with Strut (and Hikari with Lion Dance) so he does more damage with his spells and you should use Advanced Magic when you’re down to 2 boost so you can take better advantage of the 3 boost attack. With a «Fireball» at 3 impulse and with Advanced Magic + Strut you will ventilate the soldiers.
Once you have got rid of the soldiers, you will have to go after Stenvar (who will be a little weaker because he will have also received Osvald’s attacks). You can easily stun him with Hikari’s spear attacks, especially if you have the Spear Fishing skill (something like that) which you can learn through dueling. If you don’t have it, use any ability of the spear, the more times you hit the better (you can also use Aggressive Slash, which is weak to Swords). When he is stunned, take the opportunity to land the biggest hit possible with 3 impulse (Sky Slash would be the key). Osvald will also help with offense as usual, attack him with “Lightning Bolt”, better if you have “Advanced Magic” active (it will be time to use the potential).
