GUIDE TO EVITERNO, FIRST OF THE PENITENTS IN BLASPHEMOUS 2

GUIDE TO EVITERNO, FIRST OF THE PENITENTS IN BLASPHEMOUS 2

Eviterno is without a doubt the most complicated boss in Blasphemous 2  and in my opinion he is also the best boss of all of them because in short, depending on the color I suppose, but it is a tremendous epic battle that this guy gives us.

I told you that before making the guide I had a certain dilemma because we could say that there are two methods to defeat this boss: The one I have called the “Honorable” method (in the sense that it is a more “fair” battle between both parties) and the one I have called the easy method because you will have a build so broken that the boss will seem like a joke. I wasn’t sure which method to bring, until in the end I said… “well, I’ll bring both and let everyone choose the one they want.”

In my case I have defeated it using both methods to make this guide, it does not seem to me that any method is the “good” or the “bad” (although I have my preference on the matter), so you simply choose what you prefer: You can have a fairly complicated and epic battle in which you will have to have a hard time defeating him or you can have a battle in which you crush Eviterno as if he were an insect with the fearsome power that you can get with the build that I will tell you about; Whatever you’re going to enjoy the most, that’s up to you… in the comments if anyone wants to debate this topic, they can express themselves below.

BOSS LOCATION: GARNET RAINS

Eviterno location in Blasphemous 2

We will find Eviterno in ” Lluvias Granate “, the location as such does not have much mystery since the game’s own story already takes us to it and guides us… But basically you will have to go to the “Altar of the Five Doves” (to the north of Raised Temples) when you have freed all the caged pigeons and from there go up.

HOW TO DEFEAT EVITERNO (THE “HONORED” METHOD)

I call it the “honest” method since it is the most… honest way to defeat him and it is the method you should follow if you want to have a close fight. Below I will tell you the “other way”, one in which this boss becomes a joke… which method to choose is up to you , Penance does not understand morality.

PHASE 1: EVITERNO, FIRST OF THE PENITENTS

Phase 1 of Eviterno

The first phase of this boss is quite simple, keep in mind that he will not enter the second phase until you lower all his life, at which point of course he will regain all his life and that is where they will really get more complicated. things.

The boss flies and will teleport very often from one place to another, so you will have to be quite attentive to see where he appears. Anyway, as I said, this phase probably won’t give you too many problems. Let’s look at his attacks in the same way, it is true that this phase has some “tricks”:

  • Fire Ball : Eviterno will rise and summon a huge fire ball (very much like Frieza from Dragon Ball) that he will throw against the ground (it takes a while to throw it, it gives you a chance to hit him a little, but don’t get too confident either). I think it’s enough to say that it is not optimal for this ball to hit Penitente, so move to the side of the screen and be careful because when this fireball hits the ground it will create some kind of columns of lava that will emerge from the ground and they will move to the sides; This is avoided by doing a double jump and then a well-timed aerial dash . If you do it very well, you can even try to tap it in the air as you pass.
  • Red Lightning Murray : In my opinion the most annoying attack of this phase. He will go to the side of the screen (you’d better move away from him quickly when this happens) and throw some kind of electric walls at you that take up the entire vertical of the screen. They are dodged using the aerial dash , but be very careful because it launches some rays slower than others to confuse you when dodging.
  • Ball Launcher : It will throw a few “balls” towards you that move somewhat erratically. Avoiding them is simple, here the trick is to pay close attention to the fact that sometimes they throw a ball of a different color; If you hit said ball it will be thrown towards the boss and if it hits him (sometimes it misses) it will cause damage and he will be stunned for a while so that you can hit him tremendously (if you go with Verdict I recommend that you spam the crouching attack and press the attack button without stopping).
  • Teleport + Balls x3 : A kind of combo in which he makes a teleport , throws a couple of balls at you, makes another teleport , throws balls at you… and well, this three times. The balls are easily dodged with the aerial dash , take advantage of each throw to give it at least one hit before it teleports again.

In this phase the important thing is that you edge it so that you can reach the second stage in the best conditions possible.

PHASE 2: EVITERNO ULTIMATE DESICCATOR

Phase 2 of Eviterno

Okay, this is where the real sauce comes… Eviterno will take Crisanta’s sword and let’s go, the guy handles it and it’s a pleasure (for him the pleasure, you’re going to have a bad time). The boss now has several sword attacks with an absurd range and for some reason annoying with the desire that it will warp a little as it comes from down there, so it is not very convenient to trust yourself too much since we cannot know clearly what he will do after an attack and it is extremely common for him to perform combos with his repertoire of attacks.

We will see each of his attacks so that you have a clearer idea of how to dodge each one of them, but here the strategy is different from that of other bosses since you will have to dodge constantly (the guy doesn’t stop) and only attack when “chance” ( It’s not random, I’ll explain now) I give you that small opening so you can hit him safely (or relatively safely, depending on the situation).

  • Simple Circular Slash : A blow with the sword that makes an arc from front to back that is quite dangerous because it hits from both sides and from the top; It has little range, that’s good, but be very careful as already mentioned to make an entire arc with the sword.
  • Ascending Slash : He will launch himself a little forward and slash upwards, dodging him is not much of a mystery but be careful because he is quite fast.
  • Low Slash + “Sometimes Projectile” : A blow in which he crouches and hits downwards, after which he will only sometimes launch a kind of projectile forward across the ground that you must dodge by jumping. In addition, many times he does a quick teleport and then performs the attack to make you a little more dizzy if possible.
  • Annoying Slash : I didn’t know what to call this one, it’s going to stay like this because it’s really annoying. He makes a kind of upward blow with which he will incidentally launch a kind of cuts towards both sides of the screen that are also very high, so they cover a lot of the screen. Again… your thing is to stay away from him and after this try to go towards him with an aerial dash and hit him because after this attack he does not usually continue attacking and we have to take advantage of every little moment he gives us to hit him.
  • Jump + Hit : The attack that interests us the most because it is the one in which it is most exposed (which is not that much, but it is what it is). He will make a good jump forward and hit the ground as he falls, creating pillars in front of him that will emerge from the ground forward. Here the key is to avoid him so that you stay behind him (it is the safe zone) and after this you land a few hits (it will depend on the weapon, with Verdict it gives you an aerial or at most two if you go very fast). Always take advantage of this attack to lower his life a little since he never continues attacking after doing this.
  • Half Screen Slash : The worst attack of all, it will start doing it when you have lowered about a third of its health and as you lower it further it will do it a little more often (or that’s the feeling it gives me ). He will teleport to be in the air and make a slash with a range that makes no sense, it takes up half the screen (the area he occupies on the screen will be momentarily marked shortly before he launches it, which is very useful as orientation). You will have to move away quickly and dash to avoid being hit; If you are not very fast you will eat it. After dodging him, you quickly go to hit him, and he stays still for a little while.
  • Tricombo Hit : A three-hit combo that is somewhat complex to dodge. First he does an “Ascending Slash” in which he will jump upwards, punch in the air and then finish with “Golpetazo” (“Jump + Punch” but without the jump because he is already in the air), for What again the key is to dodge and take the opportunity to attack him a little when the “Punch” ends (the final part of the combo).
  • Archconfraternity : What we could call his Ultimate Skill, he will perform it when his health is less or less than 30% of the total; He will only do this attack once. He will begin by making a dark Debla of Lights (do not be close to him when he does it because this causes damage) and after this ancient bosses will appear to attack us in this order:
    • Orospina : He will do a charge, double jump and little else.
    • Lesmes and Infanta : Lesmes will appear in the air and fall to the ground summoning pillars of fire, so move away from the epicenter of the attack. After this the Infanta will launch her lightly pursuing Miasma projectiles.
    • Benedicta : It will create those “things” that she creates covering the entire width of the screen at the top, the things will fall one by one in order. You have to sneak in with a dash (it’s better for me to do it with the aerial dash ) between one drop and the other.
    • Odón : He will make a charge forward that you dodge with a double jump.
    • Eviterno : He will finish the attack with his “Half-Screen Slash” so be careful.

TIPS

The strategy you must follow is to dodge his attacks all the time and always trying to stay away from him (which will not be easy) and take advantage of those small gaps that a few of his attacks have (“Annoying Slash”, “Jump + Punch”, “Half Screen Slash” and “Tricombo Punch”) to hit him.

With a little patience and skill, it will eventually fall. But yes, the more improved you get Penitente in every way, the better… Have all the flasks , have its healing to the maximum , have a good build for your weapon and have it improved to the maximum … that kind of things.

The Verse of “Liviana de los Filos Withered” is very good, I highly recommend it. I leave you the guide with the location of all the Verses .

“EASY” METHOD: FOLLOW THE MEMORY OF YOUR EYES

To defeat him in this way you will need the Chant called ” Following the Memory of Your Eyes “, this Chant is very broken since by using it we will stop time for a few seconds, which will allow us to beat up the boss tremendously while very calm. It is also important that you have little Guilt since this Chant consumes a lot of Fervor. If you don’t have this Canto, take a look at this guide .

The idea is that you use Chant at a time when he is exposed and proceed to hit him with your most damaging abilities. It is best to use Verdict with his infinite combo of “hit all the time while crouching” with Verdict turned on. By doing this well you will lower at least half a bar of health in its second phase (you cannot lower it in one phase since it will use its Ultimate Skill when it reaches more or less 30%) and in the first you can even blow it out in one go. The little life he has left after this can be lowered with the standard method or you can recharge your fervor (Verdict has an improvement with which you recover a lot of Fervor by hitting enemies with the weapon) to do the devastating combo again.

This is the statue configuration that I recommend to make things even easier:

  • The Anointed + The Alchemist : More damage with Verdict and more Miasma damage, the combination causes us to create clouds of Miasma with hitting with Verdict on.
  • Birth + The Novice Static : More healing with the Flasks and more stunning on our hits. Combined they will create an effect that stops time (less time than with the Chant) when you use a Flask, which is legendary.
  • The Turiferary + The Selfless Father : We reduced the cost of Fervor for having Verdict on and also the cost of Prayers. Together they will ensure that the Fervor is not reduced by having Verdict turned on (when using the blows it will lower the fervor a little, yes, but it makes the task of finding the perfect moment to cast the “stop time” much easier, the fact of being able to have it on all the time so we can forget about it).
  • The Traitor : More physical damage.
  • The Greater Shelter : We will regenerate health very little by little, it will not be noticeable in this battle, but I like to have it equipped.

With this strategy and this build you will see that this boss is extremely easy to defeat.

REWARDS

This is what we will get when we defeat him:

  • Tears of Amendment
  • 5 Marks of Martyrdom
  • Crisanta’s Souvenir : If we give it to the sculptor Montañés we will obtain the Crisanta Figure, it is very good because it improves the Aerial dash and also changes its aesthetics to make it cooler, 2 in 1.
