Alchemy is one of the elements that can give us an incredible number of advantages in Minecraft designed to make our lives much easier. And it is that thanks to it we can create a multitude of different potions with different purposes such as being able to breathe underwater, heal ourselves or even make ourselves invisible.
But that’s not all, we can also create potions called “throwing” with which we can apply the effects to other players as well as to our enemies and even to the villagers. We can poison them, heal them… or really, apply any effect to them that we could apply to ourselves.
Sounds good doesn’t it? In any case, I am already telling you that we are going to need, yes or yes , to be able to access the Nether since we will find one of the basic ingredients (and many others) there and that we will need a good amount of artifacts and various ingredients to make our potions. It’s not easy, but of course it’s worth it, so let’s go with the guide!
CREATING THE POTION HOLDER AND ITS BASIC OPERATION
The most basic and the first thing we will need to start creating Potions with Alchemy in Minecraft is a Potion Holder. To create it we need the following:
- 1 Blaze Wand : That you will get occasionally after defeating a Blaze, a creature that only appears in the Nether or Underworld of Minecraft.
- 3 Rocks : Well, that, rocks, there are everywhere; take them and that’s it
Once you have all the ingredients, put them on the Crafting Table like this:
Now what I recommend is that you put it on a Crafting Table to have it higher (it’s a little short) and that way you’ll have it at hand, which never hurts… a 2×1, come on.
When interacting with her you will see the following. Don’t be scared, now I’ll explain.
- What we have more to the left is where we will place the fuel; which in this case will be a special one (charcoal and others do not work as in the oven ). The Potion Holder’s fuel is Blaze Powder. It is obtained in a simple way, simply add the Blaze Rod to the Crafting Table and you will obtain the powder (specifically two units).
- In the upper square just below “for” is where we will put the ingredient that is, each potion requires an ingredient. Later I will explain how to make each Potion in the game.
- In the three lower boxes is where we must introduce our jars (or bottles). We can introduce from 1 to 3 glass jars, but it is recommended to always add three to get the most out of the ingredient.
In case you don’t know how to make a Glass Jar , I leave you the recipe here; you just need crystal (obtained by putting sand in the furnace).
HOW TO CREATE THE RARE POTION IN MINECRAFT
We are going to start with this Potion since it is the Base Potion with which we can create all the others and in this way it will serve us as a little initial tutorial.
We simply have to interact with the Potion Holder, add three Flasks with Water at the bottom (you will have to interact with the Crystal Flask in the Water to fill it), then we put the Blaze Powder in the fuel area and to finish we will have to put a Nether Wart as an ingredient (I think that by the name you can imagine where it appears, right? hahaha).
After a short time (when the arrow ends) the Water Flasks will have become Rare Potions (all three if you have put three as I have recommended). Simply remove them and go.
I recommend that you make a few and keep them in a chest that you should have near your Alchemy area to always have these Potions on hand, since you are going to need them a lot. So now you know, whenever you go to the Nether, be on the lookout for Warts.
HOW TO CREATE ALL POTIONS IN MINECRAFT
Now that you know how you can create Potions, I will tell you the ingredients needed to create each of the Potions available in the game. Remember that for these potions you will need to place the Rare Potion instead of the Water Flasks in the area where the Potion Stand Flasks are placed.
NIGHT VISION POTION
This Potion allows you to see perfectly in the dark , as if it were daytime.
Required Ingredients:
- Golden Carrot: You have to put a Carrot in the center of the Crafting Table and completely surround it with Gold Nuggets.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
JUMP POTION
It will allow you to jump more , simply; however, this is very useful even if it doesn’t seem like it. Also reduces fall damage.
Ingredients needed:
- Rabbit’s Foot: It is obtained from rabbits as is evident.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
FIRE BODY POTION
An incredible Potion because it will give us immunity to all damage related to fire and lava , ideal for mining expeditions and to walk through the Nether.
Creation Ingredients:
- Magma Cream: Obtained by defeating Magma Cubes in the Nether or by mixing Slime Ball and Blaze Powder on the Table.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
POTION OF SWIFTNESS
Taking it will increase your movement speed , ideal for exploring or going to distant places quickly.
You will need this to make it:
- Sugar: Obtained from sugar cane or honey.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
TURTLE MASTER’S POTION
It has two effects. On the one hand it will increase your resistance (you will receive less damage ) and on the other it will reduce your movement speed; Very true to its name, right?
It is created with these objects:
- Turtle Shell: It is achieved with Turtle Scales, you must place them on the Crafting Table in the same way as with any helmet.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
APNEA POTION
It allows you to breathe underwater , something very suitable for exploring the sea, especially now that we already have the aquatic update and we can find many interesting things in the depths.
Ingredients:
- Pufferfish: It can be obtained by fishing around Jungle Biomes and variants of these. Also sometimes dropped by Guardians and Elder Guardians.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
HEALING POTION
It doesn’t have much mystery, but that doesn’t mean it’s one of the coolest. It will heal health points when used.
- Glittering Watermelon: You will have to coat a Watermelon Slice with Gold Nuggets.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
REGENERATION POTION
It will regenerate health over time to make it much more difficult to die, it could even prevent us from starving.
List of ingredients:
- Ghast Tears: Obtained from Ghast in the Nether.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
SLOW FALL POTION
It will completely nullify the fall damage since we will fall slowly, it is always good to carry one with you just in case. It will also allow us to jump over huge cliffs, which is often useful to move better.
You will need all of this:
- Ghost Membrane: Dropped by Ghosts in Minecraft.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
INVISIBILITY POTION
As the name says, with it we will become invisible . Despite the fact that it is a potion that, due to the way it is made, should be in the list of “Negative Potions” that you have below… no way can we say that it is something negative, so I keep it here.
The way of doing it changes a bit:
- Night Vision Potion: You have the recipe above.
- Blaze powder.
- Spider Eye: Obviously obtained from spiders.
LUCK POTION
It will increase your character’s luck attribute , which increases the chance of getting loot from zombies and skeletons with equipment as well as the appearance of chests when fishing.
I think this can not be done … does anyone know?
HOW TO MAKE THROWING POTIONS
There is a way to make Potions that you can throw them so that the effect instead of applying to you is applied to enemies, friends or any NPC, come on. This is something that becomes especially useful with Potions with Negative Effects which we’ll look at a bit further down.
In any case, the aforementioned ones continue to come in handy to heal our friends or to be able to apply any effect we want to them.
To make the Throwing Potions you will have to use the Potion Holder again with the following ingredients:
- Gunpowder: What you will get from the Creepers ( how to prevent yourself from the Creepers ).
- Any Potion, including the negative ones that we will see below.
- Blaze powder.
Note that converting a Potion to Throwable will make the Potion last less (in the case of Potions that have an effect duration time).
POTIONS WITH NEGATIVE EFFECTS WITH SPIDER EYE
Now we continue with the Potions called Negatives since their effects are harmful , which is why it is not worth taking them; it is better to make them throwable to damage enemies with them.
As you will see there is a common element in these, the Spider Eye. This item has the property of turning the effect of a Potion into its opposite.
Let’s go with the list!
POTION OF WEAKNESS
An especially useful potion since with it we can cure the Zombie Villagers , we will also need a Golden Apple. Anyway, in this same link you have a detailed explanation to cure them.
Ingredients:
- Spider Eye: Of the Spiders.
- Rare Potion.
- Blaze powder.
SLOW POTION
It will slow movement, great for slowing down enemies. It could serve us to escape from a tough opponent.
Alchemy Materials:
- Eye of spider.
- Swiftness Potion.
- Blaze powder.
POISON POTION
It will poison and therefore deal damage over time, a good way to passively deal damage to enemies.
Required Ingredients:
- Eye of spider.
- Regeneration Potion.
- Blaze powder.
DAMAGE POTION
And with this we will have already covered all the Minecraft Potions. The Damage Potion deals damage , no more. So you know, make it throwable.
- Eye of spider.
- Healing Potion.
- Blaze powder.
HOW TO IMPROVE POTIONS
And to finish it off completely (what a post I’m going to have left), I’ll show you three ways to improve your Potions:
EXTEND THE TIME OF POTIONS
We will have to add whatever Potion it is. It must be a potion that has an effect that lasts for a while, such as Night Vision.
Add it to the Potion Holder with Redstone as an ingredient. Doing so will last much longer .
ENHANCE POTION EFFECT
This will allow us to have a much more powerful effect , but it will also make potions that last a while last less.
The process is the same as in the previous case, but we will have to use Luminous Stone Powder as an ingredient.
You can only either enhance a potion’s effect or lengthen its time, not both.
LINGERING POTIONS
It is an improvement of the Throwing Potions, when throwing them to the ground we will create an area in which for a time everyone who passes through there will obtain the effect of the Potion that is; It is frankly useful if you go with several friends so that they spread a lot.
To make them you need these ingredients:
- Dragon’s Breath: Obtained by interacting with a Crystal Vial in the remains left behind by the End Dragon’s fire; the final boss of Minecraft.
- Any Throwing Potion.
- Blaze powder.
These potions cannot be upgraded with the above upgrades as this is already considered one upgrade and you cannot have multiple potions.
