GUIDE AND BUILD OF GOROU IN GENSHIN IMPACT

Geo’s element has always been a bit…weak in Genshin Impact , mostly due to the issue of his Elemental Reactions being a bit meh; although it is true that it is an element that has enough synergy with itself.

But now, thanks precisely to Gorou and other additions such as the new Defense set for Geo characters ( Husk of Opulent Dreams ), the Geo element has been quite buffed in general and now the MonoGeo teams (only Geo characters, or at least mostly, see 3 Geos + Bennett for example) are much more viable.

And why does Gorou get this? Basically because he is a character that snorts a lot at other Geo characters. Similar to what Sara does,  especially in her C6, but this one already does it as standard. Anyway, let’s see the complete analysis so that you understand better what I mean.

GOROU’S WEAPON AND ELEMENT

Gorou, as we have already discussed, is a Geo element character ; that as I always say… it is an element that is quite mediocre at least in terms of its Elemental Reactions (it is not bad to have a little shield, but frankly any shield that a character provides us, without going to Zhongli , including Diona for example, is much better than this. But since normally what we are looking for more damage… well these little shields (which also have many flaws) is not that they are very relevant in the meta. For this reason, Gorou intends that the Geo work by themselves in teams by Mono Geo.

His weapon is the Bow and this is very interesting since he is the first Geo archer that we have in Genshin Impact, which was already playing. Not that this is very relevant given its clear Support role, but… well, it never hurts to have an archer in the group to be able to attack from a distance and others (typical Hilichurl archers that attack us from a tower… you know) and It’s cool that Geo finally also has a goalkeeper; no more.

GOROU STATS

Gorou’s statistics are not remarkable, these are the ones he has at level 90:

  • Base Health: 9,570
  • Base Attack: 183
  • Base Defense: 648
  • Geo Damage Bonus: 24%

He does not stand out too much in any field, neither in the offensive nor in the defensive. At the level of statistics he is quite regular… but don’t worry, Gorou has a lot to contribute and we will see that in his abilities.

Mention that yes, that as a particular statistic it acquires Geo Damage Bonus, which frankly is very good and more so considering that given its Support role we will always tie with Geo and therefore this is a fable for us.

TALENTS OR SKILLS

Let’s see your talents or abilities.

NORMAL ATTACK: CRACKING ARROW

Regarding the normal Attack, we have the most common, nothing that is out of the norm:

  1. Normal Attack: A combo of 4 quick blows with the bow in which we will deal physical damage.
  2. Charged Attack: A charged shot that we can aim at. If we charge to the maximum we will cause Geo damage.
  3. Descending Attack: We will hit the ground causing physical damage.

ELEMENTAL ABILITY: CANINE COMPREHENSIVE DEFENSE

  • TOE: 10s.
  • Duration: 10s.

It’s the Ability that makes Gorou super key and on top of that it’s not even the Ulti. Basically we will buff our Geo buddies depending on how many Geo characters we have in the team (Gorou himself counts as 1) through an area (being inside it he buffs us and such):

  • 1 Geo Character : We will increase the Defense of the characters (those of Geo, in all cases) by a certain value depending on the level of the Skill. At level 8, for example, it’s 330 Defense; so not bad.
  • 2 Geo Characters : Increases resistance to interruption, which never hurts (and if you go with a Zhongli it’s irrelevant, but hey), even if it’s not the most attractive.
  • 3 Geo Characters : +15% Geo Damage Bonus to all your Geo characters.

These buffs are cumulative, that is, if you get the third one you will also get the second and the first… so it is a buff to take into account and that especially in MonoGeo teams it will spread excessively since we will be empowering the whole team ( or 3 of them if you go with the typical 3 Geo + Bennet, which is still very good).

Also mention that since it has a 10-second CD and the duration of the effect is also 10 seconds, we can always have it active. On top of that, as the Elemental Ability is, we won’t even need energy; it’s very nice.

Oh yes, and I already forgot. When performing the Elemental we will also do an area Geo damage, but it is quite small; the interesting thing is the issue of buffs.

ULTI: FANG OF VICTORY

  • Energy Cost: 80.
  • TOE: 20s.
  • Duration: 9s.

With the Ulti we will cause Geo damage in an area based on Gorou’s Defense and we will activate the following effects:

  • We will apply the Elemental Ability buff, which obviously does not add up, rather it “reapplies”.
  • Every 1.5 seconds some rocks will fall that will also deal damage based on Gorou’s Defense.
  • Every 1.5 seconds it will attract a crystallization particle to your active character’s location. That’s good, we’re not going to complain, but this doesn’t add much either because as I always say those crystallization shields are pretty crappy.

PASSIVE 1: AGAINST WIND AND TIDE

Tremendous because by using the Ulti we will increase the Defense of the entire group by 25%. Come on, we will have the buffs of the Elemental and also this one, that the truth is that putting both together is fabric.

PASSIVE 2: RECIPROCAL FAVOR

Both Elemental Skill and Ulti will deal extra damage based on Gorou’s Defense; so it is already very clear that we will build it oriented to Defense.

PASSIVE 3: TRACKING DOG

Quite useful since it will show us Inazuma’s objects on the minimap. As it happens with Qiqi but with Liyue’s objects.

CONSTELLATIONS

Now let’s see everything we can achieve through its constellation:

  • C1 – Hound Speed: Swift as the Wind : When a buddy (not Gorou) deals Geo damage while inside the buff’s area, Gorou’s Elemental Ability will have its TOE reduced by 2 seconds. Since it was already 10 seconds, it will go to 8. In both cases it is little and since the rotations are usually greater than 10 seconds… well, this is not too noticeable either.
  • C2 – Hound Tranquility: Steadfast as Rock : If a character gains a Crystallization particle during the Ulti’s effect, the duration of the shield it creates is increased by 1 second (maximum once every 0.1). It’s fine because Ulti itself attracts Crystallization particles to us, but as I said, those shields are very meh and therefore this constellation is also meh.
  • C3 – Hound Claws: Fast as Fire : Increases Elemental Skill by 3 levels, can be increased up to 15 levels. The effectiveness of the major buff depends on the Elemental Ability and therefore this constellation is the key.
  • C4 – Hound Lick: Warm as Water : If you have at least 2 Geo characters on your team, the Ulti pulses will also heal the character in the area. The healing will be 50% of Gorou’s Defense every 1.5 seconds until the Ulti ends. It’s great because from this constellation he even makes us the role of Healer so we don’t have to depend on another character.
  • C5 – Hound Rush: Powerful as Lightning : Increases Ulti by 3 levels, can be increased up to 15 levels.
  • C6 – Bravery of Hound: Faithful as a Dog : And this is when we all go crazy because god. Depending on how many Geo sync pairs you have (also counting Gorou) you will get 10%, 20% or 40% Critical Damage for Geo attacks. Crazy, and more with all the previous buffs already mentioned.

As you can see, it’s crazy how much Gorou buffs other Geo characters, especially if you have at least 3 with you (counting Gorou). C1 and C2 are quite meh, but after C3 things start to get interesting and in C6 is when Gorou becomes an exaggeratedly good Geo buffer. For MonoGeo teams, as you can see, he is god; especially in C6… but in C0 he is still brutal.

THE BEST BUILD FOR GOROU (SUPPORT DPS)

We are going to boost his Defense as much as we can without leaving aside the typical statistics to deal more damage and others.

Heavenly Wings in Genshin Impact

These are the weapons that I recommend for Gorou, the truth is that the subject is a bit weak because we don’t really have bows that are good for him at all.

  • Heavenly Wings ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐  : It’s not that it’s perfect, but at least it will increase our damage a lot with one that gives us a critical % and Critical Damage as well as a high Base Attack that we won’t notice as much because Defense is better, but at the moment it is your best option of 5 stars.
  • Favonius Bow  ⭐⭐⭐⭐: It gives us Energy Recharge, which since the Ulti has a cost of 80, it will come in handy and also by causing a critical hit we will generate energy for all our companions in order to provide extra support to the group (we’ll be a bit of a drummer too). It’s true that you shouldn’t have a problem recharging power on a MonoGeo, but it’s still an option.
  • Bow of the Emerald Slayer ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Mainly because of the Critical Chance and the passive effect that creates a kind of whirlpool that brings enemies together, it will come in handy against small enemies and others.

Let’s see if they get a more decent bow for him… at the moment it is what it is.

Ancient Ritual of Nobility in Genshin Impact

As for stats on artifacts:

  • Helmet or Crown : Critical Chance or Critical Damage, depending on the need. Normally you always put on Critical Chance unless your weapon already gives you this stat, in which case you put on Critical Damage.
  • Clock : Defense %.
  • Chalice : Bonus Geo Damage.

Substats you are looking for:

  • Priority: Critical Chance, Critical Damage, Defense %, and Energy Recharge.
  • No Priority: Attack%, ​​Defense, Attack.
  • Not by a long shot: Elemental Mastery.

And as for the Artifact Set :

  • 2 Pieces of Opulent Dreams Shell : +30% Defense.
  • 2 Archaic Petra Pieces : +15% Geo Damage Bonus.

4 pieces of Opulent Dreams Shell doesn’t take good advantage of it because it’s not a character that is constantly attacking on the battlefield and outside it is also not passively always hitting like Albedo (the Ulti is hitting, but it doesn’t hit much and doesn’t ends up spreading).

4 Ancient Ritual of Nobility is another possible option to provide some extra support to the group (and the damage increase of the Ulti) although it is true that we do not take advantage of the Attack % so much since the normal thing will be to be accompanied by characters They take advantage of Defense more than Attack. Anyway, in my opinion, I think I would put Nobility because I think it’s better to support a little more (although it’s not that much) than to amplify a damage that in itself is not very high either (Gorou is more buffer than DPS).
