In this guide to God of War Ragnarok you will learn:
- Where to find the Mystic Heirloom item
- How to awaken the three petrified trolls
- What you need to do for the Steinbjörn armor set
The Mystical Heirloom item allows you to complete a series of optional boss battles against petrified trolls in God of War Ragnarök. Positive side effect: You receive the components of the powerful Steinbjörn armor . In this guide we will show you how to assemble the armor.
Find Steinbjörn Armor: You have to do that beforehand
In order for you to be able to start your search for the Steinbjörn armor, you have to do a few things in advance. In the main quest “The Path” you must have reached the Lake of Nine in Midgard . This happens for the first time during the quest “The Destiny’s Word”. You also need the Draupnir Spear so you can blast through weak spots in rock and ice. You get it in the quest Forging Destiny during a trip with Brok to the Dwarven Forge.
Mystical Heirloom: How to find the item
With the Draupnir Spear in your luggage, head to Midgard on the banks of the Nine. Southwest of Týr’s Temple is an ice wall with a weak point. Spear it open and get the Mystic Heirloom relic and a scroll. Equip the relic to Kratos now.
You must find four troll statues and bring them to life with the heirloom. After a small boss fight, you will each receive a slumberstone , which the dwarves use to make the armor components for the Steinbjörn armor.
Find the first troll statue in Midgard
West of where the Mystic Heirloom was found, you will reach the “Abandoned Outpost” area through a ravine . Climb up the iron chain to the left of the entrance to the dwarf shop. A few meters ahead you swing over the abyss with the crane and you are already standing in front of the troll statue.
Stand in front of it and use the relic by holding the L1 button and tapping the X button. The troll Blodugr Steinn comes to life and challenges you to dance. The Ice Troll is vulnerable to Fire . So rely on the Chaos Blades. As a reward you will receive Hacksilver, Bonded Leather, Broken Runes, the Poison Protector Amulet Charm and the first Slumberstone.
Find second troll statue in Alfheim
Next, travel to Alfheim in the secret area The Forbidden Sands . You can read how to achieve this in our Quest Guide for Song of the Sands . Ride the sleigh to the west of the area. You’ll come to a spot with old wooden barricades and a blue flag. Climb up the wall and you will face the second troll.
By the way, one of Odin’s ravens (Guide) is hiding behind it . The best way to fight the Ice-vulnerable Fire Troll is with the Leviathan Axe. Bjarg Stormr drops broken runes, hacksilver, bonded leather, and the Stone Idol of Souls amulet charm alongside a slumberstone.
Find troll statues in Vanaheim
You bring the last two trolls to life in Vanaheim at the same time. So you can look forward to a double boss. Starts at the mystical gate in the river delta. Take the boat east and dock at the Garden of Noatun Dock . The troll statues await you in front of the large temple.
Gölráb from the Ashes and Gölráb from the Frost have you alternating between dealing frost and fire damage with the Leviathan Ax and the Blades of Chaos. The rewards are Hacksilver, Beast Scraps, Compound Leather, Broken Runes, Hacksilver, Significant Step Amulet Charm, and the Final Slumberstone.
Craft a Steinbjorn armor set
Give the slumberstones to one of the dwarven shops and the resourceful smiths will use them to make the components of the Steinbjörn armor for you. The set brings you the following advantages:
armor piece | Values | advantages |
Steinbjörn belly armor | Defense +112 | Bloodthirsty Vengeance: This allows Kratos’ attacks to temporarily restore lost health if he has previously taken significant damage. |
Steinbjörn gauntlets | Strength +22 and Defense +55 | Stunning Vengeance I: When you take damage, you have a moderate lucky chance to Stagger nearby enemies and deal 25 Stun Damage. |
