GLISCOR STRATEGY IN COMPETITIVE POKÉMON

GLISCOR STRATEGY IN COMPETITIVE POKÉMON

Gliscor is the typical Pokémon that when it appears as a competitive rival you hate it. This is mainly because it is a very good Pokémon, but mainly because it is annoying but eager.

You can already imagine that we are facing the typical Stall, those Pokémon that last a long time and that are dedicated to slowly weakening our team while we wish their death with all our hearts. And it is that Gliscor is a Pokémon that if you are not able to knock down quickly… you can give up your game for lost.

But… what does this Pokémon have that makes it so annoying and at the same time efficient in competition? Let’s go with your analysis and strategy!

? GLISCOR STATS

His stats add up to a total of 510 points , which is really very good:

  • Health: 75.
  • Attack: 95.
  • Defense: 125.
  • Special Attack: 45.
  • Special Defense: 75.
  • Speed: 95.

Offensively not bad; a decent Attack (not high) along with a speed that is again decent too; It doesn’t stick out, but hey, it’s ok.

Defensively you can see that in the physical section it holds up very well, 125 is cloth. However, regarding Special Defense and Life there it does fall somewhat short.

However, it’s not the stats that Gliscor excels at.

TYPE, RESISTANCES AND WEAKNESSES

Gliscor is a Flying Ground-type , a combination that has very good things, but also some that weigh it down quite a bit:

  • It is immune to Electric and Ground.
  • It is resistant to Bug, Fight and Poison.
  • It is weak to Water.
  • It is very weak to Ice.

Immunity to both Earth and Electric is obviously something that is great for us and regarding resistances, we should especially mention the Fighting and Poison types, which will come in quite handy; Bicho’s is still there (against Scizor , Volcarona …), but it is not appreciated as much as the others.

The weaknesses yes, eye. It is true that they are few, but they are very dangerous. As I always say, Water is one of the most common types in competitive and therefore it is not good to be weak against them and a x4 weakness is something that is never cool (and less in a type as used as coverage as the Ice Type) . Water-type Pokémon themselves 99% of the time carry an Ice move, so you know, stay away from them.

GLISCOR ABILITIES

Let’s now see his abilities and which ones could become interesting:

STRONG CUT

Rival Pokémon will not be able to lower your Attack. Yes, it will lower you if you use movements that lower it yourself. It’s not bad, especially so that Intimidation doesn’t affect us, but it’s not the skill I recommend.

SAND VEIL

Increases evasion in Sandstorm by 25% and immunizes you from storm damage. It’s pretty cool and could come in pretty handy on a Sandstorm-based team alongside Tyranitar or Hippowdon , but the next ability is just too good.

ANTIDOTE

We will restore 1/8 health each turn if we are poisoned and also become immune to poison damage. Together with Toxisfera it is great since we will auto-poison ourselves when entering the field and we will be able to enjoy said healing; but not only that, but also since we will be poisoned, we will be immune to all other altered states (paralysis, sleep, burn…).

IVS, EVS AND NATURE

The perfect Iv’s; Regarding EV’s and Nature:

  • EV’s : This time we want it to endure everything they throw at it. All the EVs in Health and the ones you have left, divide them between Defense and Special Defense.
  • Nature : Agitated (+Defense -Special Attack).

RECOMMENDED ITEM

We have already discussed it in the skills section. Toxisfera without a doubt to be able to heal us with an antidote and be immune to altered states.

BEST MOVES FOR GLISCOR

The movements that I recommend the most for Scizor:

  • Toxic : Severely poisons the enemy. Remember that in 8th generation they wanted to remove Toxic from the mts… and that spoils the whole set.
  • Rock Trap : Puts rocks on the opponent’s field and every time you switch Pokémon, they will lose health based on their Rock weakness/resistance.
  • Breathe : We restore 1/2 of our health and will lose the Flying type that turn. At that point we lose the x4 weakness to Ice, it will stay at x2 that turn.
  • Earthquake : STAB Ground, Physical, 100 Power, 100 Accuracy. When is this movement not good?
  • Sword Dance : Increases Attack by 2 levels.

GLISCOR STRATEGY

  • IVs: Perfect.
  • EVs: 252 Health, 128 Defense, 128 Special Defense
  • Nature: Agitated.
  • Object: Toxisphere.
  • Ability: Antidote.
  • Movements:
    • Rock trap.
    • Toxic.
    • Respite.
    • Earthquake.

As you can see, it’s a tremendous set. We have good stamina and more due to the passive healing and immunity to status effects that the Antidote and Toxisphere combo gives us, and of course also thanks to Respite to heal us more when necessary.

For the rest, we have a lot of very annoying movements. The idea is to put Rock Trap on the field to weaken the enemies that enter, put Toxic to weaken them more while they try to kill us (which will not be easy except for Pokémon with Ice attacks and powerful Water Pokémon) and Earthquake as a direct offensive move. that will cause a lot of damage even though it is a very defensive Pokémon.

The key will be to leave the field before a Pokémon that can easily knock us down and bother us as much as we can.

HOW TO DEFEAT GLISCOR AND COUNTERS

There are not many doubts about Gliscor:

  • Water and Ice Pokémon: Water and Ice Pokémon that hit hard will be our biggest enemies. Darmanitan Galar , Weavile , Greninja… Eye equal to Pokémon that have Ice attacks even though they are not of that type; that a x4 weakness is a x4 weakness.
