Enchantments in Minecraft are the most effective way to get a huge advantage in the game and having the right ones is what can get us to the endgame in no time.
We are going to talk about all the enchantments that are currently in Minecraft along with an explanation of the enchantment system and its mechanics. We will also show you the most optimal ones for each important piece of equipment.
The opinion you will find is my own and will not necessarily adapt to your style of play; however, it is quite objective and works in most cases.
HOW TO CREATE THE ENCHANTING TABLE IN MINECRAFT
The Enchantment Table will allow us to get most of the enchantments, except for some special ones that we will talk about later. To use it, we must first create it as follows:
As you can see, you will need a Book, Diamonds and 4 units of Obsidian for crafting.
Now that you have your Enchanting Table we are going to explain how you can use it. We will need three resources:
- The object we want to enchant
- lapis lazuli
- Experience
To use it, we will place the object we want to enchant in the first space and the Lapis Lazuli in the second. It will give us three enchantment options with different prices: one, two and three levels. The more expensive it is, the higher the level of the enchantment will be, and the more likely we are to obtain additional enchantments for the same price. To enchant with the maximum level of the table we will need to have at least 30 experience levels; of which we are going to spend only three.
Remember that for the table to allow us to enchant to the maximum level we will need to surround it with 15 Shelves one block away from the table, you have an example of this in the photo below.
HOW TO REMOVE ENCHANTMENTS FROM ITEMS
We will need a Sharpener , very easy to find in villages. Putting an item inside removes all of its enchantments except curses. Needless to say, it’s not very useful, although it can help you gain some early experience.
PROTECTION CHARMS
These enchantments focus on giving us an improvement to our defense, either against any type of damage or from specific sources. A little extra resistance doesn’t hurt.
PROTECTION
- ID : minecraft:protection

The protection enchantment is one of the best in the game since it reduces the damage we receive from any source. Getting this enchantment is a high priority for me, second only to repair.
FIRE PROTECTION
- ID : minecraft:fire_protection
- Maximum level : IV
- Applicable objects : Helmet, breastplate, pants, boots
Reduces the damage caused by fire, does nothing else. This enchantment is not worth it since it is superior protection.
EXPLOSION PROTECTION
- ID : minecraft:blast_protection
- Maximum level : IV
- Applicable objects : Helmet, breastplate, pants, boots
The same as protection against fire but against explosions; They include TNT blasts, Creepers , and Ghast Balls. It’s not worth it to us either.
PROJECTILE PROTECTION
- ID : minecraft:projectile_protection
- Maximum level : IV
- Applicable objects : Helmet, breastplate, pants, boots
On the downside, projectile protection is decent. Keep in mind that protection alone is already better than this… but come on, it protects you against arrows and tridents.
FEATHER FALLING
- ID : minecraft:featherfalling

The feather fall enchantment is without a doubt one of the best in the game; allows the player to take greatly reduced damage when falling from high places. This is another enchantment that I recommend getting as soon as possible.
DURABILITY ENCHANTMENTS
These enchantments will make our equipment more durable and not break easily. It is not something necessary but it is very useful to optimize time.
UNBREAKABILITY
- ID : minecraft:unbreaking

- Applicable Objects : Helmet, Chest, Pants, Boots, Elytra, Sword, Bow, Axe, Pickaxe, Shovel, Fishing Rod, Hoe, Shield , Lighter, Trident, Crossbow
Unbreakability is completely optional but very good in all situations; makes the durability of the item with this enchantment drop much slower. My recommendation is to have your entire team enchanted with Unbreakability III to make playing the game much more comfortable.
REPAIR (MENDING)
- ID : minecraft:mending

- Applicable Objects : Helmet, Breastplate, Pants, Boots, Elytra, Sword, Bow, Axe, Pickaxe, Shovel, Fishing Rod, Hoe, Shield, Lighter, Trident, Crossbow
Repair is without a doubt the best among the best enchantments; every time we collect experience we will automatically repair any item that we have equipped and enchanted with this. It is essential to be able to have a long-lasting or directly infinite team if we have an experience farm .
Be careful, because repair cannot come out on the Enchantment Table !
OFFENSIVE ENCHANTMENTS
We will certainly need a little more firepower; these enchantments deal damage to us in one way or another and are generally very good.
THORNS
- ID : minecraft:thorns

- Applicable objects : Helmet, breastplate, pants, boots
The enemy or player who hits us if we are wearing armor equipped with the thorn enchantment will also suffer a part of the damage. Undoubtedly an interesting utility but I only recommend it on servers.
In personal worlds it can cause us headaches, especially with the Endermans, since when they receive damage from any source they can teleport and consequently the fight against them will be much more difficult.
EDGE (SHARPNESS)
- ID : minecraft:sharpness
- Max level : V
- Applicable objects : Sword, ax
The edge enchantment at max level does some much-needed extra damage in all cases; one of the best enchantments that should also be your priority. It is applied in the sword or the ax and it gives us more damage in each blow.
SWEEPING EDGE
- ID : minecraft:sweeping
- Maximum level : III
- Applicable objects : Sword
Another very good enchantment for the sword. Razing Edge adds more damage to the sword’s AoE attack when used correctly (wait the proper time between hits indicated below the reticle; crosshairs come on).
PUNISHMENT (SMITE)
- ID : minecraft:smite
- Max level : V
- Applicable objects : Sword, ax
Punishment is a copy of the sharpness enchantment with more damage but it only affects undead enemies like zombies or skeletons with all their variants (of both), zombified piglins or… The Wither!
BANE OF ARTHROPODS
- ID : minecraft:bane_of_arthropods
- Max level : V
- Applicable objects : Sword, ax
Again a copy of blade with more damage, this time for specific enemies: spiders, cave spiders, Silverfish, Bees and Endermites. Apart from doing more damage, it also applies a slowing effect to them as it happens with the arrows of the Stray .
PUSH (KNOCKBACK)
- ID : minecraft:knockback
- Maximum level : II
- Applicable objects : Sword, ax
Knockback increases the distance you push an enemy when you hit them. Personally I think it’s a very bad enchantment and you end up doing less damage because you have to walk back to them to hit them again and you lose time.
FIRE ASPECT
- ID : minecraft:fire_aspect
- Maximum level : II
- Applicable objects : Sword, ax
Fire Aspect is another enchantment that can be either very good or very bad: its function is to burn the enemy hit. In multiplayer it can be very good but we ran into problems again in single player with the Endermans, as I explained in the thorn enchantment.
POWER
- ID : minecraft:power
- Max level : V
- Applicable objects : Bow
This is the best enchantment for the bow. It adds a much higher damage to the one that gives us an edge on the sword. Certainly another high priority.
IMPALING
- ID : minecraft:impaling
- Max level : V
- Applicable objects : Trident
Impalement allows you to deal more damage with the Trident ; Its bad point is that the extra damage only works if we are hitting with the Trident in hand, because if we launch it, it loses all effects.
CONDUCTIVITY (CHANNELING)
- ID : minecraft:channeling
- Maximum level : I
- Applicable objects : Trident
Throwing a Conductively Enchanted Trident at an enemy while it’s raining will cause lightning to strike them, dealing massive damage.
PIERCING
- ID : minecraft:piercing
- Maximum level : IV
- Applicable objects : Crossbow
Piercing allows crossbow arrows to pierce through enemies and shields to hit more than one at a time. Not bad if you like to use crossbows.
MULTISHOT (MULTISHOT)
- ID : minecraft:multishot

Another enchantment for Crossbow; in this case it allows us to shoot three arrows at the same time only spending one. Judge yourselves.
QUICK CHARGE
- ID : minecraft:quick_charge
- Maximum level : III
- Applicable objects : Crossbow
It allows us to load an arrow in the Crossbow much faster than normal.
RECOIL (PUNCH)
- ID : minecraft:punch
- Maximum level : II
- Applicable objects : Bow
It’s the push enchantment but for the Bow. Unlike pushing, I do find this one useful for pushing enemies away and thus maintaining a safe distance to shoot.
FIRE
- ID : minecraft:flame
- Maximum level : I
- Applicable objects : Bow
Set the Bow arrows on fire to burn enemies or ignite Dynamite. Very good enchantment to increase damage.
INFINITY (INFINITY)
- ID : minecraft:infinity
- Maximum level : I
- Applicable objects : Bow
Infinity allows us to shoot infinite arrows just by having one in the inventory. This enchantment cannot be combined on the same bow with repair, but with how cheap they are to repair it is the best option to never have to worry about carrying too many arrows again.
LOYALTY
- ID : minecraft:loyalty
- Maximum level : III
- Applicable objects : Trident
When we cast a Loyalty Enchanted Trident it will magically return to our hand flying through the air. It’s essential if you want to use the Trident as meleeing with one takes the fun out of it.
AQUATIC ENCHANTMENTS
Enchantments related to water that will allow us better control when we are in seas and rivers.
BREATHING
- ID : minecraft:respiration
- Maximum level : III
- Applicable objects : Helmet
As its name suggests, it allows us to breathe underwater for longer.
AQUATIC AFFINITY
- ID : minecraft:aqua_affinity
- Maximum level : I
- Applicable objects : Helmet
This enchantment allows us to sting underwater at the same speed as if we were on dry land; a great utility to save us headaches.
AQUATIC AGILITY (DEPTH STRIDER)
- ID : minecraft:depth_strider
- Maximum level : III
- Applicable objects : Boots
With some Boots enchanted with aquatic agility we can walk much faster through the water. Yes, walk. No, not above; walk on the seabed.
FROZEN STEP (FROST WALKER)
- ID : minecraft:frost_walker
- Maximum level : II
- Applicable objects : Boots
This enchantment is very situational; It allows us to transform the water under our feet into temporary ice that will break in a few seconds. It can be useful if we have to cross a large body of water, but it is not a great wonder since, after all, we can use a Boat, some Elytra or any other faster method.
WATER PROPULSION (RIPTIDE)
- ID : minecraft:riptide

Aquatic propulsion changes the function of launching the Trident; Instead, every time we are in the rain or touching a block of water , it will propel us in the direction in which we are facing. This enchantment is one of my favorites because of the mobility it provides, but it is not essential at all.
FARMING ENCHANTMENTS
In general, they will make us obtain objects more quickly and will open the possibility of obtaining special objects.
EFFICIENCY

Another very important and good enchantment; It considerably increases the speed at which we remove blocks and is necessary for most medium or large constructions that we want to do.
LOOT
- ID : minecraft:looting

Booty increases the number of items we get from killing an enemy. In addition, it greatly increases the chances of obtaining special items such as monster heads and skulls.
SILK TOUCH
- ID : minecraft:silk_touch

Silk Touch allows us to pick up a block as we see it in the world, let me explain: if we break an earth block with grass on it, it will give us the grass block, not the earth block.
FORTUNE (FORTUNE)

This is another one of the best enchantments to have as early as possible. Breaking an ore will have a chance to give us more than one item, even three for each broken ore.
LUCK OF THE SEA

The sea fortune enchantment will increase your chances of fishing for treasure . Treasures can include Enchanted Books , Mounts, Tags, and even enchanted Fishing Rods.
LURE

Lure multiplies the probability that something will take the bait; We are not only talking about fish (such as Salmon) but also about the treasures mentioned above.
MOBILITY ENCHANTMENTS
Enchantments that will provide us with greater maneuverability in different environments.
SOUL SPEED
- ID : minecraft:soul_speed
- Maximum level : III
- Applicable objects : Boots
Tired of being slowed down by soul sand? Soul Speed allows us to go much faster than normal on it and its variants, even more than if we were running. This enchantment can only be obtained by trading gold with Piglins or in Ruined Stronghold chests .
SWIFT SNEAK
- ID : minecraft:swift_sneak
- Maximum level : III
- Applicable objects : Leg warmers
Fast Step gives us more speed while crouched to the point of going at the same speed as if we were walking. We can only get this enchantment in the chests of the Ancient Cities added in 1.19. Remember to watch out for the Warden !
CURSES
Curses will be more of an annoyance than a danger, but you have to be careful with them.
CURSE OF VANISHING

Tool enchantments are pretty much the same, there is only a small difference between two different pickaxes.

Also in one of our two peaks we will put the fortune enchantment III and in the other we will put silk touch .
