Fighting is n’t always the best choice in A Plague Tale: Requiem . But sometimes you can’t prevent it. In this guide, we’ll show you how best to prepare for confrontations, how to use weapons properly, and how to use them to hunt down any opponent.
A Plague Tale: Requiem – All weapons and how to use them properly
Slingshot: Chapter 1
The slingshot is Amicia’s all-purpose tool. With it you can ignite flames as well as break chains or stun enemies. If they don’t wear a helmet or shield, a stone with the sling will also be deadly . However, it is not suitable for silent kills because it causes noise.
Pots: From chapter 1
You can only distract guards with empty pots. However, if you fill them with alchemical ammunition, they become deadly projectiles . A tar pot covers opponents with the combustible mass. If you throw Ignifer after it, you will create deadly flames. This allows you to take out several superior opponents at once.
Knife: From chapter 2
Blades can be used to silently stab enemies from behind , or to defend yourself at the last moment when a soldier attacks you in a one-on-one fight. Knives break after a single use, so be careful when you use them. They are also the only way to open the hidden Secret Chests in A Plague Tale: Requiem.
Alchemical Munitions: From Chapter 2
In A Plague Tale: Requiem, you can equip any weapon with alchemical ammunition to trigger special effects .
Crossbow: From chapter 5
The crossbow is the most powerful weapon when it comes to fast killing. A single bolt kills any opponent not wearing armor. In addition, the crossbow is significantly faster and quieter than the slingshot. The downside: There are very few bolts in the game. Therefore, upgrade the crossbow as quickly as possible so that Amicia can collect used bolts after hits (see next chapter).
A Plague Tale: Requiem – Upgrade weapons and equipment
In order to fight efficiently in A Plague Tale: Requiem, you should upgrade your weapons. For this you need the resources “ tools” and “ pieces” as well as a workbench . There you can unlock up to three perks per weapon and piece of equipment. Only the hidden weapon “armguard”, for which you have to solve the windmill puzzle in A Plague Tale: Requiem, is already fully upgraded when you receive it.
- Tip : Fully upgrade the tools first. This gives you indestructible travel tools and no longer requires workbenches or tools to upgrade gear.

A Plague Tale: Requiem – all enemies and how to defeat them
spear bearer
These guards wear no protection and throw a spear at you as soon as they spot Amicia. The first throw just misses you or injures you slightly. On the second throw, Amicia dies. Hurls a rock at the javelin thrower’s head as soon as he raises his weapon. If you don’t manage to spin the slingshot in time, take cover behind an object. A bit of Exstinguis will throw him off and you’ll have more time to aim the slingshot.
helmet wearer
You can’t just kill enemies with a helmet with the slingshot. When you see them, they will come towards you and try to kill Amicia in close combat. Again, the second hit is fatal. From a distance, you can only kill them with a crossbow or a combination of tar and ignifer. In a duel you have a counter chance that allows you to escape. If you carry a knife, you can stab them.
Protection
Archers and crossbowmen are usually stationed on towers or higher platforms. They have good visibility and fire immediately upon sight . Since they don’t wear protection, you can take them out with the slingshot and any other deadly weapon. If possible, sneak up on them unseen and assassinate them.
Fire Pot Launcher
These burly fellows don’t have a melee weapon, but they wear a helmet and throw an exploding mixture at you. These fire pots deal area damage . So be careful not to perish in the flames. Here, the crossbow is the weapon of choice, or you can beat them with their own weapons and tar them before throwing ignifers at them.
shield bearer
These soldiers don’t wear helmets, but their shields protect them from any attack. To kill them, Exstinguis throws them in their faces. The fog irritates them and they drop cover . At that moment you can eliminate them with the slingshot or a bolt from the crossbow.
Knight with morning star or shield
The most dangerous opponents in A Plague Tale: Requiem are the knights. They come in two variations: with a burning morning star or with a shield and spear. In both cases, all weapons are ineffective . All you can do is slow them down with tar or distract them with Exstinguis. To kill her, you’ll need to fire several bolts into the small white ring on her armor. This loosens the armor and the next bolt on the body is deadly.
