The worst games released in 2022: here is the sad ranking

We often talk about what are the best games: on our pages, for example, we have proposed the rankings by average rating of the best ever and those for PlayStation , Xbox and Switch . But what comes out if instead we see what are  the worst games released in 2022?

We tried to put these data together by consulting  Metacritic , always taking as a reference the average rating obtained by the games through the reviews of critics from all over the world. The interesting fact is that  there are several big names , some not surprising at all. But it is also true that  there are few games with not serious enough (in the average of 4, to understand), which means that the quality has not been so low in these first eight months of 2022.

We propose the ranking below. As anticipated, it is based on  the average rating of the reviews, expressed in cents. If a game was present in the chart with two different platforms, only the vote with the lowest average is taken as a reference. Also, DLCs and expansions from previous games are excluded.

Unfortunately, Babylon’s Fall sits on the podium of the worst of the year

The worst games of 2022 (to date)

  1. Postal 4: No Regerts (PC) – 30
  2. CrossfireX  (Xbox Series X) – 38
  3. Babylon’s Fall (PS5) – 41
  4. XEL (Switch) – 41
  5. The Waylanders (PC) – 53
  6. In Nightmare  (PS5) – 53
  7. Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires (Switch) – 54
  8. Dolmen  (PC) – 54
  9. MX vs ATV Legends (PS5) – 55
  10. Out There: Oceans of Time (PC) – 57
  11. Lila’s Sky Ark (Switch) – 57
  12. The House of the Dead: Remake (Switch) – 57
  13. Aztech: Forgotten Gods (PC) – 58
  14. Matchpoint: Tennis Championships  (PS5) – 58
  15. Expedition Zero (PC) – 59

Several of these titles, such as  Babylon’s Fall (you can find it on Amazon , but unfortunately you shouldn’t even look for it), were actually present in different versions in this not exactly coveted ranking. The title of Square Enix signed by PlatinumGames, we did not hide it from you in our review , was one of the candidates for the worst palm of the year , considering the confusing conditions in which it was made and in which it was finally released.

It is not surprising even the presence of  CrossfireX , another game that had not decided what to do when it was grown up and full of uncertainties, to the point of being forgettable without too many hesitations . In any case, he takes home the  Postal 4 gold , with an average rating that is very far from even a poor evaluation and that will be difficult to beat between now and the end of the year (hopefully, at least).

Among the reviews of the game, undoubtedly stands out that of the well-known  GameSpot , which awarded it  1/10 and explained that “Running With Scissors could consider this review a recognition, considering that the fact that the game is bad would seem to be part of the gag , but don’t try to think for even a second that Postal 4 can even touch the realm of ‘so bad it becomes beautiful’. There is nothing to be saved, it is a genuinely horrible experience that should be avoided at any cost . ‘

We will see if and how this curious and sad ranking will change between now and the end of the year. The hope, as video game lovers, is obviously that at this point it will remain the same: it would mean that the next few months, rather dense despite the postponements , have great things in store for us. Or, at least, not such  bad things.
