SYNOD GUIDE, HYMN OF A THOUSAND VOICES IN BLASPHEMOUS 2

SYNOD GUIDE, HYMN OF A THOUSAND VOICES IN BLASPHEMOUS 2

Synod, Hymn of a Thousand Voices is the next boss of Blasphemous 2 just after defeating Odon and the truth is that it is a somewhat complicated boss, although I wouldn’t call it difficult by my standards either (each one will have their own I suppose).

What I highly recommend is that it is not a bad idea that before facing him you review the game map a bit to obtain some improvements, that will make things much easier and at this point you can unlock almost everything in the game (of all Anyway, if you decide to do this, look at the “location” part below, which will tell you something quite relevant).

And nothing, let’s go as always with the guide to defeat this boss!

BOSS LOCATION: THE SEVERED TOWER

Synod Location, Hymn of a Thousand Voices

We will find Synod, Hymn of the Thousand Voices in « La Torre Cercenada ». We will access this area just after defeating Odón (the previous boss). After his battle we will unlock a path that will take us down, from there it is to move forward and we will end up reaching this new area.

The boss is in the area I marked with a skull in the photo above. It is accessed there from the top (I have marked it with a blue line), but in order to get there you need the Skill «Ward of the Kindred»; If you don’t have it, don’t worry, you have it a little above the boss area.

HOW TO DEFEAT SYNOD HYMN OF A THOUSAND VOICES

Below all his attacks and mechanics, the truth is a somewhat complex boss.

PHASE 1: THE OLD MAN AND THE NUN

The boss will change its face (literally) and depending on the face it has, it will make some attacks or others. It will be for a while with the face of an Old Man, then for a while with the face of a blindfolded Nun and so on… When it changes from one face to another it will launch some kind of yellow balls that you must dodge.

These are the attacks he performs when he has the face of the Ancient One:

  • Summon Worms : You will see that a kind of green clouds appear on the ground. After a while, a kind of “worms” will emerge at those points that will intertwine in pairs. The best way to dodge it is to place yourself between those green clouds from which the worms emerge and crouch (so they won’t hit you); Another option that you have if these green clouds appear far from the boss is to take the opportunity to hit him. When the worms return to the ground they will create a kind of plague path that will move through the ground; as soon as this happens you jump to avoid the blow and that’s it; Be careful because you can chain a couple of these attacks and it can make dodging a bit difficult, but you have the double jump and the air dash .
  • Flamethrower : The boss will throw us a kind of flames (sometimes in random places and others following a pattern). Here it is to be attentive to avoid them and little else. When he launches the first flamethrower, he will keep launching the attack several times in a row. You can rarely hit him, but if at any time you see the hole, he takes advantage.

Now the attacks he has when he activates the Nun’s face:

  • Pillar of Fire : It will create a kind of pillar of fire that is quite annoying because it moves across the screen and also deals area damage at the bottom, so if you stay on the ground close enough, you will take damage. The idea is that you play with the double jump and the air dash to dodge it.
  • Throw Fire : It will throw fire at us from the heads that it has on the body. The best thing you can do is put yourself right in front of the body (in the center of its body we are going) so that the flames do not hit us and in order to hit it in the process.

PHASE 2: IRON MASK

When you get him down to around 50% health, a new face will appear that has an Iron Mask on it. This is without a doubt the most annoying face of all because it will be constantly throwing a bunch of those little yellow balls that the boss used when changing faces. This phase is a bit “bullet hell”, when he starts to throw the projectiles at you you will have to be very attentive to find the gap between the projectiles; it is better that you focus purely on dodging and that at most you attack him a little between attacks (there is not much time, but there is time).

In this phase the boss will change from the “Iron Mask” face to the “Old Man” face (in this face it is easier to hit him, it is the same as before, only some attacks are a little more annoying); the Nun for whatever reason will not appear anymore.

PHASE 3: END

Synod Final Phase

This phase will start when he has very little life left (I would say 20% or maybe a little less). You will see how fire suddenly appears on the ground and the typical yellow sparkles of the Cherubs (the rings you hold on to and such).

Here the boss as such does nothing, he will be quiet. The only attack that he will carry out is to summon a pillar of fire that will move across the screen to annoy us a bit. What you have to do is move between Cherubs (you can never step on the ground because it is on fire) and you have to hit the boss.

His thing is to hit him in the air and then grab a Cherub again with the double jump or the air dash ; all this being very careful to avoid the pillar of fire when it touches (you use the air dash to pass through it). Keep in mind another important thing, since you can’t step on the ground, you won’t be able to heal yourself … make sure you have high health before this phase. Anyway, don’t worry too much, I know it sounds like a complicated phase, but it’s actually a very simple phase.

TIPS

To finish several tips:

  • I used Verdict (for a change), but you can really use whatever weapon you want… although I don’t know if maybe Sarmiento and Twinkle’s lack of range could be an issue on this boss.
  • It is highly recommended to equip yourself with a Rosario Account that provides resistance to fire (the most powerful you have).
  • I recommend that you equip (they must be together for it to work) the statues of “Birth” and “The Ecstatic Novice”, this will cause time to stop for a while when you use a Bile Flask (not long, but it lasts a long time) .
  • The Verse of “Light of the Withered Blades” comes in quite handy to hit him a bit at a distance between you dodging things and so on. In the last phase it is also great.

REWARDS

This is what we will get by defeating him:

  • tears of amends
  • 4 Marks of Martyrdom : They serve to increase the capacity of the Table of Favors and to improve the weapons of the Penitent.
  • Council Key : It will allow us to free another Dove.
