The Dock Saber is the first four-star sword in Genshin Impact that gives us % Life as a secondary statistic, an attribute that those characters who heal, generate shields or deal damage based on said statistic can finally benefit from.
In addition to this, it is a quite interesting sword because its passive can provide us with generous bonuses to Elemental Mastery even without this weapon having any refinement and it also gives us some Elemental Energy , although the amount we get from this is not very relevant if the weapon does not have multiple refinements.
The only bad thing about this weapon is that in order to get the full potential out of its passive, we will need its wielder to receive or generate multiple healings, a fact that will make it difficult for many characters. That being said, let’s look at his stats and how his passive works in more depth.
ATTRIBUTES OF THE DOCK SABER IN GENSHIN IMPACT
Let’s start with his statistics:
- Base Attack Level 1 : 42.
- Base Attack Level 90 : 510.
This sword has a medium Base Attack when compared to other four-star weapons of the same category, it has the same amount of Base Attacks as the Lion’s Roar , the Ashen River Ford , the Iron Thorn and the Black Sword .
Its secondary attribute is the following:
- Life % Level 1 : 9%.
- Life % Level 90 : 41.35%.
As we mentioned previously, this sword gives us 41.35% Life% at level 90, a fairly decent amount that will be great for multiple characters in the game who need this statistic to enhance their abilities.
His Passive Skill confers the following effect:
- R1 : When the wielder of this sword receives or generates a healing, he obtains a mark of tenacity (maximum 3), these marks last 30 seconds and can be obtained even if the character is not active on the battlefield. When using the wielder’s Elemental or Ultimate Skill, the marks they have earned will be consumed to activate the “Invigoration” effect for 10 seconds.
- Invigoration : For each mark of Tenacity consumed when activating this effect, the wearer will receive 40 points of Elemental Mastery and regain 2 points of Elemental Energy during the 2 seconds after activating this effect (Invigoration can only be activated once every 15 seconds).
- R5 : When the wielder of this sword receives or generates a healing, he obtains a mark of tenacity (maximum 3), these marks last 30 seconds and can be obtained even if the character is not active on the battlefield. When using the wielder’s Elemental or Ultimate Skill, the marks they have earned will be consumed to activate the “Invigoration” effect for 10 seconds.
- Invigoration : For each mark of Tenacity consumed when activating this effect, the wearer will receive 80 points of Elemental Mastery and recover 4 points of Elemental Energy during the 2 seconds after activating this effect (Invigoration can only be activated once every 15 seconds).
The fact that we will need the character to receive a healing for himself or generate a healing for any character in order to obtain the necessary marks to activate the effect of this passive is a burden, since it limits the possible wielders for this sword or its team composition, since another option is to have a character who constantly heals like Baizhu or Yaoyao on the team .
Having Life as a secondary statistic, it is not very good that the effect gives us Elemental Mastery, since it makes it a very unversatile weapon, since there are very few characters that deal damage based on their Life and those who will benefit the most Taking advantage of this increase in Elemental Mastery to improve the damage of your Elemental Reactions will be Healers that activate Blooms, Overblooms or Crackles; whose damage only depends on the Elemental Mastery that the character has.
Finally, the Elemental Energy that this effect recovers is not too relevant, since it is an extra and only returns 6 points of Elemental Energy with maximum accumulations. It would only be a little more interesting if it were in R5.
WHAT CHARACTER DO I PUT IT TO?
Fundamentally, we will look for characters who take advantage of Life % to enhance their healing, the damage of their abilities or the resistance of their shields:
It is a really good sword for Kuki Shinobu , since it will allow us to increase Kuki Shinobu’s Life% quite a bit to improve his healing while the passive will provide him with a fairly high amount of Elemental Mastery, at R5 it would be brutal to enhance its damage when performing Overblooms, since its Elemental Skill allows it to very easily achieve the 240 points that it would give it at its maximum refinement.
Kuki’s Elemental Skill will heal us every 1.5 seconds and lasts a total of 12 seconds (which can be increased through his Constellations), so in 4.5 seconds he will have already cast three heals and, therefore, obtained the three marks of tenacity so that the next time you go out onto the battlefield again to reactivate your Elemental Skill or cast your ulti, spend all the emblems to get the maximum bonus when activating the weapon’s passive effect.
If you didn’t manage to get the Coronation Key for your Nilou , you’re in luck. Like his signature sword, this Dock Saber gives us a fairly usable amount of Life% with which he can increase both the damage of his skills and that of the explosions of his feral cores.
Elemental Mastery will also be an addition that will not go badly, since although it is preferable to maximize Nilou’s Life as much as possible to increase the damage of the explosions of the Dendro Cores, it is complex to control who triggers an Elemental Reaction on a team of pure Bloom, so it wouldn’t hurt for her to have some Elemental Mastery in case she is responsible for exploding the cores.
Of course, in order for her to activate the passive of this weapon, we will need her to be accompanied by a Healer such as Baizhu, Sangonomiya Kokomi or Yaoyao who provide healing constantly to achieve the greatest number of marks of tenacity possible.
Other characters who take advantage of it:
- Kirara : This sword will be great for further increasing the resistance of your shields and will also help a little to increase the damage of your abilities thanks to one of Kirara’s passives that causes your Elemental and Ultimate Skills to increase their damage based on the Maximum Life of this. The problem is that we will normally take Kirara on teams without Healer and we will not be able to activate the passive of this sword.
- Laila : Same case with Kirara, since it will also come in handy to increase the hardness of her shields and slightly enhance the damage of the falling stars generated by her shield. However, we will not need healing with her, since her shield has the same duration as her ToE and since she does not receive healing, she will not be able to activate the Dock Saber passive either.
- Bennett : It can be useful to you because it will enhance the efficiency of your healing and you can take advantage of the sword’s passive perfectly, but this sword has a medium Base Attack and it is preferable to equip it with another sword, such as the Flash in the Dark, that allows it to hit a greater Attack Bonus to his allies that enhances the healing he gives.
