The Axolotl is the first amphibian introduced in Minecraft , specifically in 1.17 and the truth is that it is a pretty cute and funny creature, so it is a very cool addition to the game.
This amphibian not only has the ability to make all Minecraft players want to give it infinite hugs, but it also has several peculiarities that I will narrate to you in this post; and as the title of this post dictates, I will also explain how we can tame it and we will also talk about the strange Blue Axolotl.
Anyway. Let’s not advance events and get to the point.
HABITAT OF THE AXOLOTL IN MINECRAFT
In the future they are supposed to appear in the Lush Caves, something that at the moment has not been added in 1.7, but at the moment we can find them in caves with water in the dark , but only if the pool of water is on natural stone .
HOW TO TAME THEM
To tame an Axolotl we simply have to grab it with a Bucket of Water , you will see that when doing so the Bucket will have the Axolotl inside. When pouring the content, the Axolotl will also come out. Another fact that you must take into account since it can make the task of capturing it easier is that if you have a Tropical Fish in your hand, they will follow you.
The ideal thing would be to create some kind of habitat for it with stone and a good puddle and leave it there, surely later I will create a cool habitat for it and upload it in another post (#ToDo).
You can also tie them up with a leash, but this doesn’t seem to be too cool for them because they go a little crazy if you do; so you better pull a Cube, which is also much easier that way.
Clarify that when I refer to taming it is to this, having it with you in a habitat and others; it is not like a dog or a cat.
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR AXOLOTL AND ITS REPRODUCTION
If you want to have an Axolotl as a pet in Minecraft, you will have to take into account the following things:
- While it is true that they can get out of the water, be careful because if they spend 5 minutes out of the water, they will die . This is something that does not happen during the rain since it will hydrate them.
- The Axolotls love the Tropical Fish (the one that is like Nemo) and therefore we will have to feed them with this fish. Keep in mind that we can only feed them if we have the Tropical Fish in a Bucket, we can also use it to make them follow us.
- To spawn them you will need to have at least 2 Axolotls and give each of them Tropical Fish (the only use this fish has right now, because it can’t be cooked). Other than that, it’s business as usual, right after they’ll mate (this is Minecraft, they just hang out a bit) and an even more adorable mini Axolotl will appear. The color of this one will be like that of its father or mother (although technically the animals have both sexes at the same time, but you understand me), but there will be a very low probability (absurdly low) that a Blue Axolotl will appear (which later let’s get to that), the rarest variant of Axolotl, which refers to the Pokémon Mudkip.
- Hatchlings can be grown by giving them a few Tropical Fish.
HOW TO GET A BLUE AND OTHER COLORED AXOLOTL
As I have already mentioned, the Blue Axolotl is the rarest variant of it and the probability that when spawning an Axolotl is blue (which would be a dark blue with some orange elements) is only 0.083% (which I think this is a reference to the Shiny Pokémon. Come on, if you want to find it in nature, you can wait sitting down because it will be extremely difficult.
The other colors are very simple, all have the same probability of appearing except blue, which is rare. In any case, here are all the colors that an Axolotl can have:
- Pink Axolotl : The one of all life and in my opinion the coolest, although the Blue for obvious reasons (he’s a damn Mudkip) is also cool fabric.
- Brown Axolotl : In my opinion the ugliest, as ugly as such an adorable creature can be, of course.
- Golden Axolotl : This one is also pretty cool.
- Cyan Axolotl : Not to be confused with the Blue Axolotl, this one is a very light blue, while the Blue Axolotl is darker and even slightly purple.
- Blue Axolotl : The aforementioned rarest to obtain. By reproducing the probability is much higher, but it will still cost to obtain it.
WHAT ABOUT THE GREEN AXOLOTL?
Another Axolotl variant shown to us by the Minecraft team is the Green Axolotl. The only thing is that for some reason this has not been added at the moment in 1.17. It is said that it is in the code, so I assume that sooner or later it will appear, but… I wonder what could be the reason that has led them to decide that this coloration of the Axolotl does not appear for the moment. Curious at least, perhaps one day we will know.
THE BEST ALLY FOR OCEAN MONUMENTS AND GUARDIANS
Something very worthy of mention about the Axolotls is that they can be of great help to us when investigating the Oceanic Monuments or in general to face the annoying Guardians since if we go with a Bucket with a Tropical Fish in hand these will not follow and also they will attack you.
The only thing is that for some reason this does not work if it is an Elder Guardian, is it because they have a high respect for elders? Who knows, the fact is that they will not attack them, so keep that in mind.
BEHAVIOR AND OTHER CURIOSITIES OF AXOLOTLS
These are some of the behaviors and curiosities of the Axolotl in Minecraft:
- These amphibians will attack all the fish they see (they are very destructive and can quickly destroy the entire fish population in an area, watch out for that) and even the Squid and even the Guardians, as we have already mentioned.
- As a reference to the regenerative abilities of Axolotls in real life (which can even regenerate limbs), Axolotls have a mechanic where sometimes when they take damage, they will play dead for a while and regenerate health in the process. process. When they do, the enemies think they have died and therefore stop attacking them.
- If you help an Axolotl that is being attacked by an enemy (a Drowned for example), it will give us the Regeneration buff and will also remove the debuff that makes it difficult for us to mine that the lucky Guardians apply to us, and this for obvious reasons is fantastic.
