In any case, I highly recommend that you complete the mission so that you can count on it sooner since it will be of great help to overcome this first area and will be especially useful to defeat an enemy that I will mention below that is optional but is very worth the effort. worth defeating.

GET THE ARCANE RUNE
To free it we will need to get an object called «Arcane Rune«. From the same room where we spoke with Shadowheart, you must head east and go through one of these sphincter doors to reach a new room.
As soon as you enter, loot the corpse of «Dead Servant» that you will find to the right of the path; This is not relevant for this mission, but you will obtain a “Golden Key” that will allow you to open a chest found in the room where Shadowheart is. You could even force it, but why complicate it if we have a key at our side.
The case, in this room continues forward, you will find another different woman trapped in a “Mind Scourge Pod.” Ignore her because this poor girl is doomed and no matter what you do you won’t be able to save her.
Continue forward to the end of the path and loot another «Dead Servant» corpse that you will find there. This is where you will find the «Arcane Rune» that we need to save the prisoner of the Illithids.
USE IT ON THE STRANGE MACHINE ON THE RIGHT
Once you have the “Arcane Rune”, return to Shadowheart and interact with the machine on his right (if you hold down ALT you will see that it will be marked with a “touch” action). After this choose the following dialog option:
There is a receptacle in the console; It has the shape of the rune you found. Insert it.
Now two new options will appear:
- Place your hand on the console: This is the option we are interested in choosing.
- [ARCAN KNOWLEDGE] Examine the activated console more closely: It is an Intelligence roll, it is of no use in itself, you will simply obtain a little information about this strange machine.
After placing your hand on the console you will have two new options:
- [ILLITHID] [WISDOM] Command the pod to open: The option you must choose. It’s a Wisdom roll where you only have to roll a 2, so it’s highly unlikely that you’ll fail. In the remote case that you fail, I don’t know what would happen, I’ve been trying for a while and I haven’t been able to get a 1 with the dice to see what happens. - Ignore the feeling: You will just walk away, but luckily you can try to save it again by interacting with the machine again and choosing the “Place your hand on it” option again. the console.
Oh yes, and don’t forget to interact with the “Crafted Reliquary” that is in the same room where Shadowheart is, it is the chest that I mentioned above that we can open with the “Golden Key”. You’ll get some Gold and an Onyx.
Since you are in this room, also take the opportunity to pick up the “Nautiloid Tank” that is next to the pod where Shadowheart was (it is a thing that looks like a purple floor lamp), right click and select pick up.
WHAT WILL WE GET WHEN WE COMPLETE THIS MISSION?
Shadowheart will join our team, although it is true that regardless of whether you save her or not, when you overcome the Nautiloid you will find her in the same way on the beach. The good thing is that you will be able to count on it earlier and it will be helpful for this first area of the game (especially if you want to defeat Zhalk, the optional enemy that mentioned above, something that I highly recommend because we will get a VERY good sword; we have collected the “Nautiloid Tank” for this purpose).
In addition to being able to count on her a little sooner, you will also have a better relationship with this character since she will be very grateful to you for having her saved. This will be especially useful, especially if you are interested in having a romance with her.
