HOW TO FREE LAE’ZEL IN BALDUR’S GATE 3

As you may well know, Lae’zel is a Githyanki from Baldur’s Gate 3 who helped us during our journey on the Nautiloid and she also has a parasite in her brain just like our protagonist. The thing is that after escaping from the Nautiloid we will lose sight of it, although luckily we will find it a little after it.

In case you don’t know the location where we can find it, it is located at the coordinates “X:244 Y:357”. The bad thing is that she will be locked in a cage in the air and in the area there will be a couple of tieflings (Damays and Nymessa) who are debating what to do with her.

You will have to interact with them and make an important decision, but don’t worry about it, because in this post I will tell you what you should do and what the consequences of each decision are. Of course, we will also explain how you can free the Lae’zel and a tip that will be very useful if you are a Paladin thanks to a mistake that I made in my game (I made a load game because I did not want to continue down that path, below you will find tale).

THE MOST CORRECT WAY TO RELEASE IT

Approach the tieflings, this will activate a small chat from them and Lae’zel will quickly speak to us with his mind (using the parasite) to tell us to finish them off. These are good people so I don’t recommend that you ruin them, so you will have to choose your dialogues carefully.

These are the dialogues that will appear:

  1. «You demand a lot for a woman in such a position. Why should she? » : This option is of no use in itself, Lae’zel will simply tell us that she knows how we can heal ourselves and little else. After this, this first dialogue option will disappear and also the next one that we will see now. In addition, the new option “attack the tieflings” will appear (which I do not recommend).
  2. «Don’t worry, I’ll get them out of here…; one way or another» : The same thing will happen as with the previous option.
  3. [PERSUASION] Lower the trap with one shot. You have to kill the creature before it hurts anyone : You will have to make one that benefits from Charisma and roll only a 5 to get it. Anyway, be careful about choosing this option , now I’ll explain it to you.

If you succeed with this third option, you will convince the tieflings to release Lae’zel. As soon as they do, Lae’zel will comment the following:

You only have one chance. Join me or die.

She is always so nice, in fact, you can choose between these two options:

  • Attacking the tieflings : Which again, is not what I recommend the most, but it’s not that anything will happen unless you are a Paladin, in which case be very careful (I’ll explain below).
  • Attacking Lae’zel : I don’t recommend it either because he is still a companion for our group.

Come on, it would be better for you to ignore the third option (PERSUASION), because in both cases it is a ” Bad Ending “.

The best option of all is undoubtedly the fourth, the bad thing is that I’m not sure if it is a dialogue option that appears for all classes. It is this:

4 – [PALADIN] [DECEPTION] Your prey seems dangerous, but I have faced worse. Leave it to me; you get safe .

It is a Charisma roll in which you must get at least a 10, if you get it it is the best possible outcome since you will save everyone’s life. The Tieflings will go somewhere else (take the opportunity to ask them for information in the new dialogues that will appear) and then you yourself will be able to save Lae’zel.

To save her you simply have to hit the “weakened base” (the base of Lae’zel’s cage) with a ranged attack from a bow, crossbow or something similar, you may need more than one shot.

All you have to do is choose a character who carries a bow or crossbow, select the basic ranged attack and then select the “Weakened Base” (do it as many times as necessary) and that’s it.

Convenient Arch on the Floor of Baldur's Gate 3

Astarion has a series arc, so if you already have this character, it will be easy. Anyway, in case none of your characters have a bow or something like that, know that you conveniently have a bow on the floor of the area that you could use to free it.

BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU ARE A PALADIN

If you are a Paladin and want to role as a pure Paladin, good and all, do not under any circumstances eliminate the tieflings or you will break your oath (at least if you have the Oath of Vengeance). So now you know, ignore option 3 of the dialogue (PERSUASION) since if you join Lae’zel you will break your oath and if you don’t join her you will lose this character. The good option is the fourth, DECEPTION.

If you break the oath… well, we’ll leave it at “things will happen.” I don’t want to spoil it because the topic of this post is different and in any case I will make a post explaining in detail all this about the “breaking of the oath”, but to give you a clue, this will activate a series of events that will allow you to unlock a class secret of the Paladin, a more… evil class.
