The Fugitive is a new class introduced in Darkest Dungeon 2 whose main mechanic is to burn enemies. A state similar to Plague or Hemorrhage (Blood) that will damage enemies over time.
He is a very good character when it comes to damage over time through his burns, he is very versatile since we can damage enemies from all positions and burn them although this will also depend in part on our position.
The good thing is that we also have many movements to move around, so this is not a problem and on top of that we will not care if the enemy moves us, that is something that is always appreciated. We even have some support options like allowing a teammate to burn with his attacks and even remove bleeding and heal characters affected by blood.
FUGITIVE STATS IN DARKEST DUNGEON 2
These are the stats that the Fugitive possesses:
- Health: 36.
- speed: 5
- Resistances:
- Blood: 20%.
- Plague: 20%.
- Burn: 50%.
- Stun: 20%.
- Movement: 30%.
- Shrinkage: 20%.
- Disease: 30%.
- Death: 85%.
Regarding Health, you can see that it is somewhat weak, but this is common in DPS characters after all. Speed is a bit average, not slow, but not fast either; fine, no more.
In terms of resistances, you can see that she stands out a lot for her high resistance to Burning (something that could be seen coming because she is a pyromaniac) and otherwise everything is quite normal.

BEST BUILD FOR THE FUGITIVE
This is the Build that I recommend, with an asterisk the skills that I consider key for the Mastery:
BEST SKILLS AND MASTERIES
- *Firefly* : Our best option to attack a single target from a distance and apply a good burn.
- Loot : Ideal to move one position forward and incidentally strike a blow.
- Cauterize : It only allows us to heal characters with blood (we also remove the altered status), but it’s great anyway and you want it not to bleed is very common in Darkest Dungeon 2. It will get you out of some trouble, you’ll see.
- * Dragonfly * : It allows us to move one position backwards and incidentally we apply Burn to the 2 enemies that are in the front line, with Mastery it is when it really spreads.
- Pyronomy : Situational, but it can come in handy if we don’t have other things to do. Ideal to put it on a character that hits several targets simultaneously or those that apply Counterattack. Replaceable with Explosion if you prefer, which is also quite situational.
If they displace us, we don’t care because we have movements to move and continue doing damage. We have burns to give and sell and we can even provide some support by Cauterizing characters who suffer from Blood and we want to heal in the process (we help the Plague Doctor when she has a lot of trouble).
BEST TRINKETS
We are interested in Trinkets that increase our Speed and Damage (better pure damage because we mix melee and ranged attacks). Increasing the crit wouldn’t hurt either, of course. Burn Resistance to practically forget about this altered state is also not bad in areas where it is applied often, such as in La Urbe, but it is not a priority.
I highly recommend having a Speed trinket and a Damage trinket to be more balanced.
TIPS FOR THIS CLASS
To finish some tips:
- Get in position 2 or 3, I prefer to start in position 3 to eliminate the last line enemies and when they are annihilated move to position 2 with Loot to start rolling Dragonfly and Loot (to go back forward).
- It benefits a lot from characters that can apply Combination such as the Harlequin or the Outlaw.
- Against Burn resistant enemies (such as the Librarian ), for obvious reasons, the Fugitive loses a lot of potential.
- He is a somewhat fragile character, he will need someone to protect him (Man-at-Arms or Leper) and of course you must have a healer (Plague Doctor).
