If you are a lover of Fishing, either in video games like me, or in real life (which in my case no longer, I feel sorry for the fish) it is surely one of the activities that you are going to do in Stardew Valley and The truth is that fishing is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting things in the game (which is different to taste, hey).
However, to start fishing you will of course need a Fishing Rod, an element that will be essential for this, although you will see how later you will unlock other fishing methods such as Crab Traps.
So today I bring you the list of all the Stardew Valley Fishing Rods and incidentally I will give you all the information available on each of them: How to get them, their price, what differences they have… you know, that kind of thing.
BAMBOO
- Price: 500 Coins, but Willy (the fisherman) gives it to us.
- Required Fishing Level: 0.
It is the first Fishing Rod that we will obtain and we will get it for free on day 2 of the game if we visit Willy, you will find him on the beach south of Pueblo Pelicano , specifically on the pier. He has no loss because on the 2nd we will receive a letter from him in which he will ask us to visit him.
If you lose it or sell it for whatever reason, you can buy it back at the Fishing Shop (which is also on the Dock and belongs to Willy).
It is a rather mediocre rod, but with something you start and well… It’s free! You will not be able to use bait or tackle on it.
FIBERGLASS CANE
- Price: 1,800 Coins.
- Required Fishing Level: 2.
This is the second best Fishing Rod in the game and we will unlock it when we reach Fishing level 2, so it will not take you long to get it. When we reach that level of fishing, we will receive a letter to let us know that we already have it available.
It is acquired (like all the Fishing Rods) in Willy’s Fishing Shop, it will cost 1,800 Coins and it is very worth it because it will allow us to use Baits (but not tackles), so we can obtain some additional effects while fishing that are quite interesting .
IRIDIUM REED
- Price: 7,500 Coins.
- Required Fishing Level: 6.
The best Stardew Valley Fishing Rod. We will unlock this at level 6 of Fishing, so it will cost a little more to get it (and the price is quite high, but by the time you unlock it, you will surely have better money). It is bought in the usual place, Willy’s Cabin (Fishing Store).
In addition to allowing us to use baits, we can also use the Rigs (you can use both simultaneously). These will add other positive passive effects, there are many types and they are usually quite worth it.
TRAINING ROD
- Price: 25 Coins.
- Required Fishing Level: 0.
I have left it in the last place because it is not a very interesting rod and quite peculiar, now you will understand.
It is a rod designed for those who, for whatever reason, want to fish in an easier way, either because the fishing minigame costs them a bit or because they simply don’t feel like it. With it the fishing will become quite easy, but of course this has a counterpart because otherwise it would be a very good rod.
Well, it turns out that we can only catch common fish (both in terms of rarity and in the species of the fish itself, we will not get the fish considered rare either). These are the fish that we can catch with it (and therefore the unlisted ones you won’t be able to catch with this rod):
- Anchovy.
- Herring.
- Barbel.
- Sea bream.
- cachuelo.
- Large tent.
- Bass.
- Pike.
- Shad.
- Sardine.
- Bullhead.
- Rainbow trout.
- Colorado snapper.
- Sea cucumber.
- Sun fish.
However (apart from what has been mentioned that the rod makes fishing much easier, especially considering that the rarest fish do not come out), this rod has something positive and that is that it can make it much easier for us to raise the level of Fishing since we will obtain the same experience with this rod as with the others. Which I don’t recommend too much anyway, but anyway, if you don’t like fishing or whatever, then you have this rod as a good option to raise your Fishing level in the easiest way possible.
