LIBRARIAN GUIDE IN DARKEST DUNGEON 2

The Librarian is the boss that we will find in the Lair of «The City», which is the area plagued by flames of Darkest Dungeon 2 . He is a madman who is dedicated to burning the books of a library that has important knowledge compiled by humanity.

He is a boss who will be constantly burning us, which in turn will be burning the Library’s books, which will give him greater power. I don’t want to advance the guide, but as long as he manages to burn the three pillars of books that he has in front of him, you will have a hard time.

LIBRARIAN AND BOOKS STATISTICS

Let’s start by taking a look at the Librarian’s stats:

• Life: 101
• Speed: 2
• Resistances:
  • Blood: 50%.
  • Plague: 10%.
  • Burn: 200%.
  • Stun: 40%.
  • Movement: 200%.
  • Shrinkage: 30%.
  • Death: 33%.

From the outset we already see that he has a high Life (he is a boss after all), although he is not crazy either. His Speed ​​is disastrous so he will practically always attack last, but be careful because like all the bosses he is he has several actions in a row.

In terms of resistances, we see very clearly that the best altered state against him is Plague . Regarding burning him or moving him, we can forget about it because he will always resist it. With the Blood (hemorrhage) if you can play it a little, but 50% in the end is to throw heads or tails. The Stun can be phenomenal (40% is difficult for it to jump), very key to try with objects that stun so as not to lose the turn and hey, if it works, then it works.

Regarding the Books:

• Life: 45.
• Speed: 0 (do nothing).
• Resistances:
  • Blood: 200%.
  • Plague: 180%.
  • Burn: 10%.
  • Stun: 200%.
  • Movement: 10%.
  • Shrinkage: 200%.

In any case, the books are forbidden to touch , and below I will explain better why.

ATTACK GUIDE

These are the attacks that the Librarian will perform:

• Burn Pages : The boss will burn the stack of books in front of him, this will reduce the life of those specific books by 1/3 of their total life (let’s say that the entire stack of books is charged on the third time). This will increase the Anguish of one of your characters randomly by 2.
• Required Reading : Deals little damage to a random character and has a chance to increase their Anguish by 1 and burn them.
• Fireplace : Low damage attack but applies 2 Blind charges (50% chance to miss) to the character it hits. In addition to this he applies 1 Dodge charge to himself (50% dodge of attacks).
• Categorize : An attack roll will move our entire team of characters.
• Burning Shine : His most dangerous attack, he will do it when he has “killed” a stack of books. It will cause light damage to all your characters and worse, it can burn each one of them. In addition, doing so can also apply a Dodge charge.
• Ignition : It is his rage mode, he will apply it when he is in the front line after burning all the books. Activating this mode will heal 24 health points, increase his Speed ​​to 4 and become extremely dangerous because he will not stop using the Blazing Glow attack, which is devastating.

STRATEGY TO FOLLOW

The Librarian is a DPS race, the goal is to kill him before he reaches the frontline and goes into Ignition mode (the rage). Don’t touch the books because you don’t want him to advance his position, obviously.

From the outset, attack with your characters that can do damage from a distance, and as you progress, you’ll be able to hit them better with more melee ones. What you cannot do is damage the Books, if you have characters that do not get to attack him, it is better that you throw some support skill, they will have their moment to hit him when he advances.

It is very key to apply Plague to it, since it practically does not resist anything and since it makes several consecutive attacks, it will eat all the damage of the altered states very quickly. Skills that ignore dodge will come in handy and similarly items that remove blindness will also be very useful. Don’t forget either objects that remove the burn (Burn Balm, Medicinal Herbs…) or increase its resistance (as well as Trinkets that increase it).

RECOMMENDED CHARACTERS

These are characters that are phenomenal against the Librarian:

• Plague Doctor : Plague Grenade will allow us to apply said altered state to lower its life, it hits the last 2 positions simultaneously, but luckily the books have a huge resistance to the Plague and therefore the damage will not affect it ( We will do a little damage to them, but come on, it won’t even be noticeable). We can also heal ourselves and remove the Burn, increase our resistance to Burn… among many other support options. Character of 10 for this boss, come on.
• Grave Robber : Poison Darts will be great for hitting him from a distance and we will also apply Plague. Absinthe will also allow us to heal ourselves if necessary in case things get complicated.
• Brigand : You will be able to shoot him from a distance without problems.
• Diabla : It has an attack with which we can hit the enemy that is in the last position, so we can hit him from the first moment and when he gets closer because we have other offensive skills.
