by Meteorite Throwback is a Genshin Impact Artifact Set that is actually not bad at all, however it is clearly one of the most disused sets and frankly this is something I understand because this set has several problems that are what make it not just shine at all.
In short, the main problems that I see with this set is that not many characters take advantage of it well and also these characters tend to have other sets that make it even better; thus leaving our poor Meteor Throwback set a bit in the dark.
Now I will tell you in more detail why this is due and as always we will see a complete analysis of this set. Let’s go there!
HOW TO GET THE METEOR THROWBACK SET
We can get the Meteorite Throwback set in the Guyun Domain , a Domain that you can find southeast of the Guyun Stone Forest (near the Geo Hypostasis ) and as you go, take advantage of it because right in front of the door there are a few Crystaloptera (those butterflies that are used to make the Concentrated Resin). There we can also obtain artifacts from Petra Archica .
These would be all the pieces of the set:
- Flower : Midsummer Night Flower.
- Feather : Grand Finale of Midsummer Night.
- Clock : Midsummer Night’s Clock.
- Chalice : Midsummer Night Water Globe.
- Corona : Mask of the Midsummer Night.
WHAT DOES THIS SET OF ARTIFACTS PROVIDE US?
Let’s see what effects this set brings us:
- 2 Pieces : +35% Shield Protection.
- 4 Pieces : Increases the damage of Normal and Charged Attacks by 40% if you have a shield active.
First of all, explain a little better what Shield Protection is because many people get confused. This is an attribute that applies to the character, not the shield; that is, only the character that wears this set will be the one that gets the bonus to the shield, not the others.
This 2-piece bonus isn’t that bad, but we’re usually looking for more offensive stuff (if only the buff applied to all characters, well still, but not even that) and so this part is a bit…irrelevant, which It doesn’t mean that it’s still good for the character who wears it to have better shields, of course, but you get my point.
The 4 bonus is where things get really interesting as 40% more damage with Normal and Charged Attacks is pretty cool (Gladiator gives us 35% damage from Normal Attacks alone, but that +18% Attack is better than the shield issue clearly). The big downside is that to get this bonus you have to have a shield yes or yes and that rules out many characters. Even assuming you’re running Zhongli, you can lose the shield (and you lose a lot, of course) and therefore this isn’t as sustainable, which is what I don’t like about the set.
WHAT CHARACTER DO I PUT IT ON?
I’ll tell you which characters take advantage of the Set the best, but I’ll also tell you which other sets take even better advantage than this one because it’s the second Meteor Throwback issue:
It comes in handy for Noelle since she usually uses him as Main DPS + Healer + Tank (because Noelle does everything, she’s tremendous) and since she puts on a shield herself, it’s great for her. The Shield Protection obviously that she also comes in handy to endure even more if she fits. The problem? That we will not always have the shield… in fact if you have used it you will notice that there are times when you are without a shield and there you will notice a rather brutal drop in damage. You could take her with a Zhongli, but come on, you can still run out of shields (especially in abyss and others). And of course, now that we have Opulent Dreams Shell on top, which is even better for him and that has no downside related to the shield, well this set… well, you better put Cascara on it.
Zhongli comes in handy if you run him as a Main DPS, which is not his main role since he shines much more as a Support DPS (either full support with Tenacity from the Geoarmada or with 2 Archaic Petra and 2 Ancient Ritual from the Nobility to go do maximum damage); but if for whatever reason you want to take it from Main DPS, you know. The increase in damage from Normal Attacks will be phenomenal and the increase in shield will obviously be great too. His shield is the strongest in Genshin Impact, if you add that +35% Shield Protection, there will be who kills your Zhongli.
And well… normally in this part I usually recommend other characters that although they don’t take advantage of the set as well as these, well, these are still an option. The fact is that in this set I really don’t recommend it at all for other characters, so we’ll leave it that way.
