by Shimmering Determination is a 4-star Honkai Star Rail Cone of Light for characters on the path of Nihility, characters who, as you probably know, are specialized in applying debuffs to enemies so that our team has an advantage.
The truth is that it seems like a pretty good cone to me since it is the typical cone that you can really equip to practically any character (on the road) and it will take good advantage of it. Summarizing a lot, it will allow the character to be able to apply Defense Reduction debuffs , which in my opinion is one of the best stats that we can reduce enemies.
However, there are characters that will get more out of it than others. We will see that below, first we go with a deeper analysis of the cone.
SHIMMERING DETERMINATION’S ATTRIBUTES OR STATS
Let’s start looking at its basic attributes , keep in mind that we will give you the data it has at level 80 (the maximum):
- HP : 952
- ATK : 476
- DEF : 330
Now we go with the passive that is what really interests us:
- S1: 60% chance to reduce the enemy’s Defense by 12% for 1 turn when hit.
- S5: 100% chance to reduce the enemy’s Defense by 16% for 1 turn when hit.
The passive of this cone is very simple, but in the end it is quite good. A 12% Defense Reduction (in S1, although as you can see, it doesn’t scale much with the Overlay either) is fine, it will help us to make all the characters that attack the affected enemies deal more damage; but the best thing is that the activation is very simple since it will be enough to hit the enemies.
It is true that a 60% chance is not much (which is corrected by the Overlay), but the characters of the Path of Nihility usually have a good Effect Hit (the stat that increases this type of chance) and also They tend to build for that purpose (or at least they should), so we’ll end up with higher odds; Even being able to practically guarantee the application of the debuff by 100%.
WHICH CHARACTER DO I EQUIP IT TO?
You can really equip it to any character on the lane since its main function is to apply debuffs and it never hurts to have one more. Also, the Defense Reduction debuffs are very interesting because for practical purposes what we are doing is increasing the damage of our characters.
Anyway, I would recommend equipping it especially on those characters that already have Defense Reduction debuffs in order to reduce it even more and that the damage increase is noticeable by adding both things.
Another point to keep in mind is that characters that have area damage will apply it more often because they hit more enemies simultaneously, which is why these characters get more out of it than the more Single Target based ones . Let’s go with the main recommendations:
As of this writing, Pela is the character of Nihility that applies the most reductions to Defense, so “Shining Determination” can help her to be even better in her specialty. In addition, her Ultimate (with which she applies the Defense debuffs ) hits all the enemies on the field, so it will be quite likely that we will apply this additional debuff to several of them simultaneously. It is without a doubt one of the best 4-star options of hers, perhaps even the best.
Silver Wolf also applies defense reductions both through his Ulti and through his “mistakes”, which are debuffs that he applies randomly when hitting enemies. This character has good damage, but the final role of him is to apply with the debuffs he can to benefit his team, so another debuff will come in handy and reduce the defense of the enemies more, the truth is that spreads
The truth is that I prefer to equip him « Before the Tutorial Mission Begins », but both cones really seem like a very good option to me.
Regarding the other characters, what has been said, you can really put it on all the characters in this way:
- Sampo : Since his damage is mainly in the area, the Cone will come in handy since it will apply a lot of Defense debuffs , but it is true that he has 4-star options that are more suitable for him, such as «Prey Vision».
- Welt : It doesn’t hurt at all, it also has good area damage. But since he is a character with a lot of damage, it would be better to put a cone on him to increase it even more like ” In the Name of the World ” or without going to 5-star things, because we also have the “Good Night Sleep Well” Cone , which is quite similar to the previous one but a little less powerful.
