by The 5-star characters of the Honkai Star Rail Permanent Banner may have a bit of a bad reputation since, in the end, they are the characters that we often get when we are shooting for a promotional that interests us (I was in the first banner of Seele I got Bronya, who looks, the truth is that as far as it fits, well, he doesn’t even hear that badly) and it always gives me a little anger when this happens.
But a bit unlike Genshin Impact , in this game we do have some quite interesting characters (at least as of this post, I don’t know what will happen later with the new characters that come out) and that can mean a radical change in your account; especially if you are starting and you still do not have a wide arsenal of characters.
Also, in case you don’t remember, in Honkai Star Rail we will be able to choose the 5-star character we want when we roll a total of 300 spins on the Permanent (which is a lot, but it will eventually come), so when the time comes it will be crucial that you make the right decision .
Suffice it to say that this is my opinion based on my experience and of course I don’t have the absolute truth. You can leave your opinion in the comments so we collect various opinions and that people can contrast a bit. Clarified this, let’s go with the characters ordered from best to worst!
#1 – WELT
In my opinion Welt is the best option, and when we get to the second one I will argue a bit because it is true that the second one is also VERY good.
He is a character that has very good damage and can damage multiple enemies simultaneously. However, what makes him stand out a lot is his specialization: Reduce the Speed of the enemies and also Delay their Actions (also, Imaginary is the best element for this since his Weakness Break is the one that slows down and delays the enemies the most ).
So we have a character with good damage that also provides great support to his teammates. You might think that slowing down enemies isn’t that bad, but think about it:
- Enemies attacking less often means your characters attack more (Reverse Speed), so you’re increasing the damage of the whole team and also generating more energy.
- This also means taking less damage which reduces the amount of shields and heals you need. Also of course you will receive less debuff and that kind of thing.
If you combine it with Asta (character they give you) things already get out of hand because on top of that you will be increasing the Speed of your group. Both together form one of the best teams in the game since the enemies will attack every thousand years; if you set it up well (and you have them well built , of course) you may not even require a Healer / Tank (because if they practically don’t attack you, then why).
#2 – BRONYA
Bronya could perfectly be in first position, but I think that although she is a tremendous character, we also have VERY good 4* Harmony options such as Asta or Tingyun . Welt is much more unique in that sense and at least as of the day of writing this post, no one does what he can do as well.
But that said, she’s a great character and the best friend of any DPS since Bronya can drastically increase a character’s damage (with the downside that Bronya isn’t doing DPS and is consuming Ability Points); the truth is that it is barbaric.
This is because his Basic Ability jump-starts your chosen character to attack immediately (and buffs them with a Step Attack buff ) and his Ultimate provides a very good amount of Critical Damage and Attack to the whole party.
This more or less means that your most damaging character will attack a lot more times and also deal a lot more damage (and generate more energy). But how can you apply the Basic Ability to whoever you want, because if you are in a hurry for Healing you can throw it at the Healer to save yourself and well… that kind of thing; the character gives a lot of play.
#3 – CLEAR
If you want a character that deals good damage (pure DPS), Clara is the best option for the Permanent Banner… well, actually the DPS is Svarog (the sucky robot).
He is a character from the Way of Destruction who is a bit of a Tank since he is dedicated to provoking enemies so that Svarog gets angry and destroys those who dare to lay a hand on his favorite human. He works on counter attacks, you want them to attack Clara so that she counters with very good damage.
Given his role of taking hits, he’s also a pretty tough DPS (but he’ll still need help). In addition, it combines great with 7 de Marzo because it will be able to provide shields to better resist damage and also these shields have the particularity that they attract the enemy’s attention, so it will be even more likely that they will attack Clara, which is what interested. She also has decent area damage.
#4 – GEPARD
Gepard is a tremendous character from the Way of Conservation who stands out for providing very good shields to the entire team through his Ultimate. It is true that his Basic Ability is not entirely bad because he can freeze and that in the end is to reduce the damage of said enemy, but hey, in the end you want him for the Ultimate.
The truth is that it is noticeable to have his powerful shields and therefore he is a character that I highly recommend given that at least today there is no one who provides so much shield to the entire group at once. Although of course I do not recommend it above those that we have already mentioned above.
#5 – BAILU
As it is, Bailu is a tremendous healer and should probably be a bit higher up. I put it here because I consider that right now it has a very high value because we don’t have other Healers apart from Natasha (and Luocha is coming in no time, who really looks better) and well, Natasha is not bad as such but it is a little tight of Healing in my opinion.
#6 – YANQING
Yanqing is a Hunt character and therefore specializes in single target DPS. He doesn’t seem like a bad character to me, but it is true that his “I increase my own critical chance” roll a little bit because you can do 2 things: Add a lot of critical chance and waste the stat a bit or pass it and you are dependent on his mechanics (so he will crit but not in the most consistent way). In addition, his Ultimate has a very high cost, so if he doesn’t go with characters like Tingyun, he’ll have a bit of a hard time.
Also, taking into account that we have 4-star characters like Sushang or Dan Heng himself , the truth is that they are quite powerful in their role (especially Sushang; let’s not even talk about Seele anymore because he thinks about it a thousand times)… it makes me feel that he is a rather unnecessary character and that he complicates your life without getting much in return.
#7 – HIMEKO
Himeko is probably the biggest disappointment (I hope I don’t offend her fan club or something like that) of the permanent banner , because the truth is that on an aesthetic and character level and so on she is a very cool character, but in terms of performance she is another stuff.
Things as they are, he has a very good area damage through his final, but… that’s it, he doesn’t have more. What weighs on him the most is the fact that his Extra Attacks pop up once every 3 years , so he doesn’t quite do good damage on a consistent basis. A pity because I love the character, but anyway.
